Hello,

I have never physically touched a 4x4 in my life, that is how little experience I have with 4x4's. I just skipped straight to the 5x5 and I have decided to backtrack and get a 4x4. I've heard of some cubes that are good by the following brands:

1. Maru 4x4
2. YJ 4x4
3. QJ 4x4
4. Ghost Hand 4x4
5. Lanlan 4x4

And I know their is a new 4x4 out by MF8 and Dayan which might be good. My question is what 4x4 should I get? If their are any 4x4's that you would recommend that are not on my list feel free suggest your opinion. Any response will be greatly appreciated as always.

I've had my Dayan for just a few days and when I first got it the turning was good. The inner layers turn and cut well but the outer layers are a little rough to turn. I'm sure it will get better after I break it in more and get it lubed. It does tend to pop on me especially in the 3x3 phase during the last layer algs. I still use 2LOLL so when I do some of the f turns (which on a 4x4 means I'm moving three layers) it mostly pops on the edge I'm pushing on. I've only ever had one pop that was more than one edge piece and even when it does pop I don't get gigantic explosions or even a mini explosion that sends a piece flying.

Only other 4x4 I have experience with is the Rubiks and the Dayan is most definitely better than that was. I have yet to play around with the tensions on the Dayan but I'm sure once I figure it out it'll be a great cube. I recommend it.

I've narrowed it down to the LanLan,the Mini QJ 4x4 or regular QJ 4x4. I cut the Maru off of my list simply because I don't think any 4x4 is worth $20.00 counting shipping and tax. So I'm really having a hard time deciding. Can anyone give me a comparison to these 3 cubes or perhaps recommend one of the cubes? I've just edited a poll in so please give your opinions. Thanks!!!

I have a lanlan 4x4 and like it since it turns well, does not lock up, and so far has not popped. Also, they are pretty inexpensive, I bought mine from big bee.

I prefer the Dayan 4x4 because it turns smooth and cuts corners a lot. I don't care that it pops, also because it is very easy to put back together unlike a maru 4x4. My maru was crisp, which I do not like.

This is an old thread and I actually purchased a mini QJ a good 2 months ago due to recommendations from this thread. So...

This thread is old.

Don't post please because I don't want anyone to think I'm still looking for a 4x4.
