I've got a question about the mefferts DIY speedcubing megaminx, I really want to buy one, but they're out of stock. Does anyone know when they're available?? And, even more important, is it good for speedcubing?? I know it's a DIY speedcubing megaminx, but i've seen a lot of comments here on speedsolving.com which say mefferts isn't good, should I wait for the mefferts to be available, or should I buy one from cube4you.com, or even a Chinese magaminx.
ps. I want a megaminx which doesn't need to be sanded or something else, because I don't know how to do that!!!

I personally disagree. Mefferts megaminx is a very solid puzzle. Its my first megaminx. After 4 more megaminx, mefferts is by far the best. The rest are of no comparison. Even after heavy time consume modification, the mf8 and pvc minxs I have are still sloppy. I have not tried mf8-2, which I hear is nice, but a lot of people swear by mf8 and pvc with mod, but they most likely never played with a mefferts... I would strongly reccomend the mefferts. It comes very tight if you buy preassembled, but if you take the time to adjust it and work out the initial roughness from the casting, it is a dream to speedsolve.

Yeah. Keep the puzzle tight and unlubed for a while (100+) solves, then you can loosen it up to the point where the screws -just- fit under the caps.

A question for Maggot, did you buy the one jamesdeanludlow reffered to me, or did you mean the (DIY) megaminx for speedcubing? That's the one I was asking for.
ps I never solved a megaminx before, but I really want to speedcube with it, so jamesdeanludlow, I saw it too, but I was asking for the DIY speedcube

sorry for late posting.. all the megaminx by mefferts are adjustable, as far as i know. DIY one you put together yourself and come with tiles, the tiles hurt fingers IMO. so, you can get the cheap one with pet sticker and change them for cubesmith sticker. meffert also offer the tile that come on the diy alone, but they are something like 11 USD. the preassemble ones have centercaps, but they are glued on and you have to pop them off with exactoknife to get to the screw. some breaking in is reccomended at tight tension out of box, just to work out some of the burr. after this, you can clean out and re lube. really good minx
