Stuck in sub-1:00...

well I've been cubing for around half a year, but I didn't learn anything other than the Dan Brown method until late April this year. So I've been speedcubing for about 4 months. anyway around the third month (June) I learned intuitive F2L, and broke the 1:00 mark using it. Now, with intuitive F2L,almost 2-look OLL, and 2-look PLL. I'm averaging times around the 53-58 second range. It's been this way for quite a while, and I've been worried about whether I'm a bad cuber, or if I'm doing anything wrong. So I guess I'm wondering how to break the sub-1:00 times, and get consistent times ranging in the 40 second area. Thanks!

I am not by any means a good cuber. I got times between 30 and 35 with 4LLL and intuitive F2L.
So there's definitely room for improvement- you don't need to learn any new algs yet.

Practice is the key.

Try to solve one F2L pair with muscle memory and look for the next corner, edge, or both to solve. That's what's meant by 'look ahead.' If you need to slow down your turning in order to have enough time, do so. With practice the process will speed up.

Practice!

I'm also stuck with ya, so practice!

I use Intuitive F2L, and 3TL(3 triple L)(3 Look Last Layer)(2-look OLL + Full PLL)

I don't think look ahead will be too much help now. Not that you shouldn't try to, but you should focus on things more important right now, which you probably haven't practised enough. Is your turning speed ok? Do you use your wrists a lot (you shouldn't normally). Things like that make a difference at this point. Also how much time does the cross take you? If it's more than 8 secs, you should definitely do something about that.

I agree, I get around sub 1:00 when I do intuative f2l and 4LLL without using finger tricks. so what I'm wondering is if you know how to do finger tricks or not and maybe whether your cube is lubed or not. because by now you should be averaging in the low 40s and PBs should be in the low 30s.

well, I'm guessing a big part of it is that I haven't learned the entire 2-look OLLs yet, I still have sune 6 and 7. So I'll plan on learning those today, and see what happens. but, I also use my wrist on some R turns, so that might also slow things down.

It's hard to give advice imo if you can't see the person solve, but practice is good for just about everything. also, id check out a lot of badmephisto vids on youtube as almost all of them are very helpful. If you have a slow cross definitely watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY_FbpdNRCQ
Also, good advice always is make sure that you like the algs you're learning, you won't want to have to relearn new ones later

ive been cubing for one month now Still with sotrebought >.> (orderead a better cube)
im at sub 40 i know full pll (almost) and 2look oll and f2l

I got a sub-20 solve with a 2look OLL and a T-perm, so it isn't really that big of an issue at this stage. You should improve much more by practising F2L than learning algs.

I averaged low 40s with Dan Harris' beginner method and very little practice. You should be able to get sub-40 or sub-30 pretty easy with intuitive F2L and 4LLL.
