Hi

i'm averaging about 40-50 sek and looking to get faster. I've learned 2-look pll and 2-look oll and fridrich f2l,but i have been doing it for about a month and cant seem to get any faster. got any tips?

I think the problem may be that you is a cat, and they have a hard time breaking the 40 sec barrier... lol

but srsly, the problem is most likely lookahead. Instead of just trying to get faster and faster, try to get more fluid in your solves, and the speed will come with time. 1 look pll is probably still a bit much till you are in the 30s. I hope this helps in some way

I agree and you may already know them but learn the PLLs: As, Us, H, Z. Then after those and when your around 30 sec learn full PLL, start with Js, Gs, Y, and T.

yeah, do G's early! I waited to do G's last... and i still dont know 2 of em xD bad ones to end with, even though they are pretty easy

actually, cats have extremely good reflexes so they are very good speedcubers but i'm a bit of an outsider.:D

but they can only compete in feet solves, so they can nevar conquer us!

The good reflexes are certainly handy, but that pesky lack of opposable thumbs causes problems. As a cat, you tend to have to treat an ordinary speedsolve as a solve with feet. And considering that, 40-50 seconds is actually pretty good!

True, but... having four feet would likely make up for the difference.

On a more serious note: If you have the capabilities, you should make a vid of yourself doing a few solves. It is hard to "diagnose" your problems without having seen you solve.

try to not just do solve after solve after solve and start to watch what you are doing, do slower solves aswell to see the quickest/easiest way to do an f2l case, maybe look at some algorithms (not to memorize, but to see if you missed something obvious) also, look at the oll/pll cases, and see if there are some easy way to remember what the case looks like from any posistion.

I think getting stuck on a slow F2L is a common theme for intermediate solvers.

A few days ago I posted some thoughts on these same topic (search for Heuristics).

Tell me, what is your F2L time? If you are averaging 40-50 seconds for the complete solve I think you are probably having a 5-10s cross, 20-30 F2L and possibly a 10-15s 4 look LL.

What takes you most time during F2L, finding the pairs and recognizing the case, or executing the moves?

Just practice.
When I just learnt f2l, it took aaages to find the pairs.
But I just practiced everyday and my times gradually went lower.

You could also improve your turning speed on the last layer.
