How To Pick Up A Cube Quickly?

I always fumble around with the cube when practicing picking up the cube quickly and trying to turn as soon as possible.. any tips?

EDIT: and do you drop the cube or put it down?

Unless you're under ten seconds or you spend over a second picking up the cube, then it shouldn't be much of a factor. Right? Just move your hand fast.

O.T. Keep your hands near the cube and grab the bottom with your right hand and the top with your left. That's what I always do.

This problem doesn't seem common for most cubers. I have just timed myself now, and it takes me 0.63 seconds to pick it up and do a U turn. You can also start turning it as you are elevating the cube up to your body. Hope that that helps.
