How To Pick Up A Cube Quickly?

I always fumble around with the cube when practicing picking up the cube quickly and trying to turn as soon as possible.. any tips?

EDIT: and do you drop the cube or put it down?

i pick it up with my left hand and do a move or 2 (i suck at OH fyi) and then just get your other hand in their and your good... and i usually just drop the cube
