what did YOU do when approaching sub 30?

Err... also, try a better camera angle, even if you don't have a tripod. Because all I really see is your hand and the U face.

Yea you need a new video, also add +1 to all of your times because it seems like you start 1 second earlier before the beep actually begins in the countdown. I notice you do a lot of cube rotations and some unnecessary U turns. Try to cut down on that, other than that you need a better angle in order to be more critical and judge you better

I'm using 2LOLL and all pll's but g-perm and got my times under 30 seconds.

In my experience, getting better at f2l and cross affect your time a lot more than algs. Like people have said previously, full OLL doesn't really add a lot of time, and even full PLL takes a while for you're recognition to get good.

I practice F2l soles slowly and learned algs for the harder f2l cases and that helped me a lot.

Hope this helps, as I am as much a noob as anyone else (if not more =O)

Once I was sub-40, I personally just learned full PLL. It's not hard.
Now I'm sub-30 and I know full PLL + more than 40 OLL's.

It's hard not to have sub-25 while knowing full LL.

It's hard not to have sub-25 while knowing full LL.

But it's easy to be sub-25 without knowing full LL.

Thats because your f2l is faster than others who average in the high 20s and 30s

To dillionbladez...

It depends on the algorithm you use..personally i just track the f2l pair and its a sinch for me. I use this algorithm
(R’ U2 R U2) (R’ F) (R U R’ U’) (R’ F’) ( R2 U’)

Which do you use?

if i'm really serious, i'll learn full LL.
Ewww lol :D

OLL algorithms aren't actually that hard to learn, they're generally shorter than the PLLs and easier to learn. But they don't help you that much, and you have to learn a lot of them (compared to PLLs) >.<

But you practice... 5 hours a day now so maybe you have time for it :D

I was 30-ish when I only knew full OLL, and I gradually learned OLLs and got better to about 25-ish, where I am now. All of the OLL algorithms learnt, and I know almost all of the cases associated with them :D

Much better lighting! Your cross isnt too bad but it can use a little more work. I noticed you tend to look around to see what pll you have. Work on recognition which basically is just practicing over and over and over again. The biggest flaw is F2L, try inserting from different angles because you are wasting time with cube rotations.

hmmm ok. i thought my cross was horrible. all i'm doing for the PLL's is using badmeph's PLL trainer, excluding the cases i don't know. how should i work on recognition? i use whatever PLL's i know when practicing, but when doing timed solves, i dont use the extra algorithms, due to recognition. i watched badmephistos PLL recognition video, but it doesn't help much, at least not right now.
