Hi, I've been teaching a person for about 2 weeks, they have a pretty good handle on the cube & can solve it in about 1:30, I'm wondering: Would it be better to advance them straight to F2L or teach them Keyhole or some other intermediate method first?

Also, how many of you used a intermediate method?

My friend just recently learned how to solve the 3x3. Once he could solve it beginner's method, I immediately taught him intuitive F2L. He understands it perfectly.
Teach your friend intuitive F2L.

I'm agreeing with Edmund. Wait until they get understand the cube more, then teach them. I'm thinking that they might not understand the concepts of. I learned F2L when I was about 40 seconds, than I went to about 1:00, then my times started going down. Maybe you should teach OLL/ PLL first since they're easier to understand.

Teach inituitive F2L first! It is fundamental and alway applicable and is more important than situational algorithms.

I went Dan Knights beginner method -> "Intuitive F2L" w/ 4LLL -> an intuitive Fridrich F2L w/ 2LOLL and PLL. Worked pretty well.

Note: The difference between "intuitive F2L" and what I use now is in number of cases I can handle directly.
