Old Type A I - Locks up?

Well, I wanted personal responses so I decided to open up a thread.. Do Old Type A I cubes tend to lock up for you? I've had mine about 3 weeks, and used it maybe about 1 1/2 weeks.. It's still kinda rough and I've lubed it, and it's at an amazing tension. I'm thinking it's just that my hands aren't used to it yet, or I need to break it in more. What's your take? Also, I was wondering..... How often I should clean and lube the cube?

no. I have a modded old type a and an unmodded old type a. neither locks up for me.

If it does lock up for you, then you might want to change your style of turning so you align the pieces more than usual or tighten it more.

I cleaned and lube my cubes every 5 days, usually until they don't need lube anymore.

It might just be me, or maybe it's because it didn't get enough lube.. I can still get ~45s with lock-ups, which is a normal average for me.. It just drives me crazy, so I'll work on my cubes later.

Yeah mine catches a decent bit. I use it for one hand though and it's great. 2 hand forget it.

mine locks up so many times its very frustrating, if i tighten it then it would be away from my cubing style. Although i havent lubed it yet but maybe i might soon

Yeah, I got a major improvement when I lubed it. You should lube it soon, I don't think you'll regret it.

I use a type C it's amazing. Cubes don't lock up if you are good at turning them.

NO WAYY! MINE NEVER LOCKS UP...

you just need to give it a little love, break it in, and it will pay you back with a WR average

I have too many cubes, and I'm not interested in getting the best speedcube in the world. I might get one or two more, or some over the years, but I'm perfectly fine with the 4 I have.

I am not a fan of the A, but of all cubes, it locks up the least. It would rather explode than jam.
