Wonderful to watch - awesome job, Chuck! It looks like you're handling the centers pretty well - they didn't seem much slower than the edges.

I still can't believe how many guys do corners last. It just seems so much easier to do them first and get them out of the way, so you don't have to fully memorize them. (But I guess that makes it easier to handle relays and multis.)

If you use Y perm, it is sort of hard to do them first ;)

the thing is just: how do you deal with parity then?
Use algorithms that are center-safe. There are very good center-safe algorithms. BH is ideal, but I did this before BH with 3OP corners, using exclusively algorithms from Macky's old tutorial; I just didn't use the couple of algorithms that weren't center-safe.

A good reason not to use Y perm. :p

Oh my God, Mom...! You uploaded this video on Speedsolving...
Ohhhhhhhhhhh I felt so embarassed :(

The solving process was very long, and the video angle was very bad. I did this attempt on a cubers gathering at a mall foodcourt, and I couldn't dare to asked any of my friend to hold the camera for 20 full minutes. So I just put the camera in front of me :fp

Anyway, thank you everyone for the wonderful comments. Especially Maria "Mom" Oey, who has always been a very very supporting cubing Mom for me :o

Yes, I'm still using PLL (J and Y perm) for solving the corners, and I'm very comfortable doing it on the end phase of my every BLD solves.

Thank you again.

Deal with it however you normally would on 3x3, but use (Rr)2(Ff)2 U2r2U2 (Ff)2(Rr)2 to perform the appropriate swap of wings.

I never for a second considered doing corners last. 2 T-perms to fix a center off by U2 or a U/U' setup (done before centers, undone afterwards) always seemed so obvious. You can actually see me do this in my first 4BLD success (I use two T's), and as far as I can tell, this kind of setup has never caused me to DNF since I my corners have never been off by the setup. I understand that some people might have a problem doing this, but I think once you DNF because of this, you'll never mess up on it again (the same way you don't put your hand on a hot stove twice).

Oh, and congratulations Chuck! It'll be interesting to see how fast you improve at this as well.

Remember when I said I had a feeling about you Chuck and you would do great things? ;)
well what do you know.... :)

Yes, I'm so remember :) How do you practice that kind of feeling? I would want that ability too :D

Thank you, David. Does the algorithm you gave is applicable on r2/M2 method? I don't bring 5x5x5 with me right now. All of my attempts had even items, so I haven't experience any 5x5x5 BLD parity yet.

And is it the same like 4x4x4 BLD, where you can have both corner and edge parity or have only one?

Thank you for anyone who is willing to answer this. :)

Hey Chuck! Congratulations on your solve! You are fast becoming a true BLD master!

To answer your question it is possible to have corner/midge parity, or wing parity, or both types of parity when solving 5x5x5 BLD.

Congratulations again!
Chris
