i have tried the beginner method, fredrich(without pll and oll), petrus, a mix of fredrich & petrus, and a mix of fredrich & 2-gen(normally for siamese cube).
and still my average time is 1:10 and best time 53 sec.i have used a greatly worn-in rubiks brand cube, which i never get pops, it cuts corners, and barely jams. what am i doing wrong!? i am learning oll and pll.. hopefully that will help.:fp

Im not by any means a very experienced cuber, but when i was in your time range the best thing i could do was not just SOLVE the cube, but THINK as to the precise reason for every turn. I was so discouraged, trying to find new things to learn, or new methods, but i soon found that nothing replaces PRACTICE and a true understanding of the cube. When i practice Fridrich F2L now, i solve rarely for speed, but go slow trying to improve RECOGNITION and EFFECTIVENESS (the best way to insert a pair). This in turn has made me much faster, and then i can work on finger tricks etc. separately instead of all at once...the combine it all. Just my 2 cents, sorry for the CAPS.

Be patient, learn algs, practice. The only thing that you're doing wrong is getting frustrated by expecting too much. Stick to a method, maybe get a new cube, and relax. Everyone that's fast was where you are now. No reason to get confused.

Maybe that's why. And you have to practice. Also, the general consensus Fridrich/Petrus hybrids suck`. And what does Fridrich and 2-gen mean?

I think the 2-gen method is really interesting, but what your doing wrong is you have to learn Fridrich OLL & PLL, I hope what you mean by that is that you are just using beginners method for that not that you keep getting LL skips... heh heh.

If Fridrich OLL & PLL looks complex, try just using 2-gen I think it would take you like a day or two to learn, and to be honest I figured it out most of the algorithms before even learning them so you probably have also.

That's the flaw of most inexperienced speedcubers. They feel like they're missing out on something, almost as if all sub 15 cubers have some hidden technique that they're keeping quiet.

If you want to get fast, just stick to one method (preferably a good method such as Fridrich, Petrus, Roux, ZZ, etc.) and practice, a lot.

lol maybe. or zz, or ______ or _______ honestly there are a bunch of different methods out there that you can use. I have heard that zz is pretty complicated though.

Once you've oriented the edges it's actually quite easy. I have yet to really get the hang of edge orientation though...
