That Monkey Kid

Personal tip:

When you screw something up, say sorry, and don't try to hide it or cover it up... ever.

And don't post things which can be easily misinterpreted.

Ooo oo! I've got one! Make sure you over word everything so that there isn't some incredibly minute technicality in it in which someone can harp on and call you an idiot for. Type as though the forum was monitored by the user's lawyers.

Yes. Very good advice. I hate it when people say I'm an idiot because I spelled soemthnig wrong. Now I'm gonna get yelled at for a sentence fragment or something...

I would suggest screaming fail, but it is an outdated meme and brunson would get mad at you, so don't type fail.

FAIL! heehee
Hi monkeydude - some of your videos have been great introductions to solving puzzles for the first time: I'm thinking mostly of the Skewb tutorial which worked well for me. Anyhow, welcome to the forum dude.
I like his puzzle modding videos. That's pretty much it, but since that's a fairly large portion of his videos, I guess that's a good thing. :p

Hey everyone =D
Although some people here already hate me even thought Ive only been a member for about a week, I thought I should say hi and ask if there's any super important rules (aside from the ones I have read on each forum) that I need to follow so I don't get my ass kicked by moderators.

So yeah, hi =]
That's just a dumb first post. Since all the super important rules are in a sticky linked from the agreement you clicked to say that you've read when you signed up, you obviously haven't read them. I suggest you do. Now.

I personally don't hate you, I don't have any opinions of you that weren't formed from this post. Abide by the rules, don't make stupid posts, don't antagonize the other members and you'll be fine.

dumb first post? that's pretty mean for a super moderator.
Sorry you think so.

The way I interpreted his post was like this: either he said he read the rules, but really didn't, or else he read the rules and felt that there were other rules that weren't written down that were going to be used to persecute him. What if every single new user came here and posted: "Hey, what are the rules? I mean, I read a bunch of rules, but I wanted to make sure there were no *other* rules that you don't bother writing down." That wouldn't get tiresome at all.

I think I'll stand by my original assessment.

I'm very sorry Brunson, I should have clarified my reasoning for asking that question.

Most of my videos were pointless, but I removed those yesterday, and am deleting lots of other videos as well. From now on only tutorials, solves, reviews will make up the majority of my videos.

Monkeydude, have you realized the way you acted and the videos you did got you alot of subscribers? Why change? No, I'm not a fanboy but I really enjoy most of your videos, I remember subscribing to you when you had less than 200. Some people like your imaturity and blogs, so again I ask, why change? So what if some people flamed you on a mistake you made, they happen.

I do agree some people like the immaturity, but it had gone way to far.

As for the people that flamed me, it wasn't them who made me change my mind. It was people I respected, such as Dan Cohen, he, and many other respectable cubers have told me directly or indirectly that I make pointless videos and that I care more about youtube then the cubing hobby.

I do completely agree with them, I did not intend to have that impact on people, but looking back I see exactly how I portrayed that. So I am changing so I can hopefully gain some respect from the people that I respect. I care much more about cubing then about Youtube, but it was portrayed as the opposite.

I am sorry to the people who like my pointless immature videos, but I must change the way I act in order to become someone who is not looked down upon by the people I respect.

Stefan hates stupid posts.
Qqref hates useless posts.
Brunson hates rude posts.

I'm sure we all dislike them all to some extent, but those are the things that really seem to irk us. A post that says nothing but 'fail......' is stupid, useless and rude. Do the math.

If you do your best to be intelligent, useful and polite, you'll do well here. That's probably good advice for life in general.

Edit: MD, your post above mine meets all the criteria I listed. Good job.

Apparently, I failed. :p

Thanks for the help Brunson, I will keep this in mind when posting on this forum, as well as others.

I don't understand why everyone is downing on monkeydude. personally I loved your videos MD, I thought they had the perfect balance of very useful information and comical relief. I always knew if i watched your videos i could learn something and get a few laughs and, frankly, your last few "serious" videos have been a little boring and stale. do what you like to do man, because a lot of people, like me, really enjoyed your energy :)
