is zz the quickest method

ZB: Cross , First 3 F2L Slots, Last Slot with LL Edge Orientation, ZBLL

Same with Fridrich if I'm counting correctly. (If you count every slot as a step then it's different)

You're not. ZB is Cross, ZBF2L, ZBLL. Remember that ZBF2L is part of the F2L process. Just like X-Cross is part of the Cross.

You mean that the X-Cross INCLUDES the cross, right?

I meant that it uses the least steps. I think he asked which method uses the least moves/steps in an earlier thread, so I thought he would like to see that.

You're joking right?

Am I missing something? Isn't that what ZB was all about? I just figured that though, I have nothing to back that claim up. I really haven't done any research with experimental methods so I must be mistaken. Sorry if my information is incorrect. Just wondering, which method uses less than ZB?

You're splitting hairs. ZBF2L is really just ZB Last Slot. Complete the first three corners of F2L however you like, then solve the last edge and the top cross in one alg. Using your logic you may as well just say it's Cross + ZB. Two steps, you're done.

Realistically, the most efficient known method is ZB, which requires almost 1000 algorithms.

If you can memorize, recognize and execute like over 1000 algorithms very quickly.. ZB is the fastest.
Lul.

That's if you can remember them all and recognize one case out of like 1200 in a matter of like 1 second or else other methods are faster anyway

Maybe he's a genius and he can remember all 1200+ algs.. jeez.

I like how the number of ZB algs has increased drastically as this thread has gone on. Tell me Zaxef, what are these new algs you have discovered and what do they do? As far as I knew there are only 300 ZB algs (799 if you count mirrors/inverses). Seriously, instead of sitting there and making up numbers just take 10 seconds to google it and get it right.

Think very hard now. I'm not going to be mean, I'll try to be more like Mr Pochmann. Can you think of any method at all for solving the puzzle that would use less steps? Feel free to make one up.

Fire Breathing ponies are not fun...trust me
I am assuming Fire breathing ponies are a mixture of a pony and a dragon.
I am also assuming that means Fire breathing ponies can fly.
From that I am concluding Stefan will want a Fire breathing pony !

I believe that Stefan would enjoy the company of a fire breathing pony.

Ok, I could be wrong, but I think your including unrealistic methods that solve the cube with one algorithm. If I am correct, then that was not what I was originally talking about. It's not possible to memorize algorithms like that, not that ZB has been fully memorized yet either, but I was thinking on more logical terms than "God's Algorithm."

Well ok but then it becomes extremely vague what is meant by "steps". For example: Old Pochmann in bld only really requires two steps. These are solve the edges one piece at a time, then solve the corners one piece at a time. (Or the other way around). The way that Ville does bld, I bet he often uses less "steps" than a ZB solve.

Etc. Etc. The point is that "steps" is very vague, and doesn't really mean much at all.

I think by steps he meant looks.
So Fridrich is a 7 look process, Cross/Pair 1-4/OLL/PLL.
ZB is Cross, Pair 1-3, ZBF2L, LL, which is only 6 looks.
ZZ is EOline, Left/Right 1x2x3 (2 steps each), OLL/PLL -> 7 looks
Petrus is 2x2x2, Extend, Orient edges, 2x2x1, finish F2L, OLL, PLL, 7 looks.

It's more important to note the individual looks though.
The advantage of 1LLL with ZZ is somewhat canceled by the fact that you still have to recognize two cases, and recognition from 500 LL cases is probably not very good.
