Hello,

I'm Cassiopaia, obviously new here and eager to discuss method ideas. I'm more on the theory and method inventing side for i started speedcubing waaaaaay to late to be fast. But I think I'm relatively good on the techniques and method philosophy side of things. For example: Why on earth is Roux (which i love) more move efficient then CFOP, has no cube turns other than CFOP, has way more degrees of movement freedom compared to CFOP, one less recognition phase than CFOP and still loses against it (in two handed)? and most importantly: What does that teach us for inventing new methods?

Yeah, that's how i am :D

Cool!

I love your signature! Welcome.

Welcome here!

I'm a Roux user too, I just love it. And I have a few theories why it is less popular than CFOP:

1. Almost all the beginner tutorials are LBL variants; and if someone chose to learn a more advanced method, CFOP is a comfortable next step. Roux is too complicated for a beginner with all that block building.
2. Lack of tutorials (compared to CFOP).
3. Bias: if the majority of the top cubers use CFOP (or something based on CFOP), one might chose CFOP to learn for that reason.
4. Not every speedcube is good for M moves.

What i really like about Roux is first it's really fun. Blockbuilding and L6E are just cool. CFOP is as annoying as it is effective. Also, once you've understood Roux you only need to keep two algs memorized, one to permute through the orientation cases and one to permute the corner pieces. If you want to have a fun method with minimal algs to keep memorized, Roux is always a good choice. Maybe it's the best casual method actually. And, never forget, it rules in one-handed. Unfortunately, lookahead seems by far the most important thing in two-handed speedsolving. I mean, CFOP has a lot of issues with everything but lookahead, but there it's supreme. Roux on the other hand keeps the least visible spot open forever. And every tenth of a second you plan or scan equals one move worth of time. It is sad, but lookahead is the big deal, and Roux has it's strentghs everywhere except there.

And I'm thinking of deleting my account already.

I'm here since three days and already earned 32 likes and a heart. That's quite a good start I would say.

Now I've received a message from an administrator mostly regarding ONE fun post I made at day one. Something completely harmles, a joke post about how we all have thrown a cube at a wall at some point. But that administrator put me in the same catagory as aggressive trolls (he used that words) and threatended to limitate my account. A friendly reminder for me newby not yet accustomed to the local customs here would have been all that's neccessary, but pulling out the biggest guns over a very minor mistake out of inexperience is totally unacceptible.

I didn't come here to be attacked for nothing. I will sleep over it, but chances are, I'm already through with this site.

Oof. Which mod did that (no way it was @Hazel) ? That doesn't sound normal...
