I’ve heard that a problem with using lefty and righty moves in a solve is that you have to do a mini regrip.
Basically, since (in home grip) your left thumb is holding the M layer (so your right hand doesn’t accidentally do r), you’re gonna have to move your left thumb off the M layer, and move your right thumb on to it (so your left hand can’t accidentally do l). Because of this regrip:
- Algs that switch between lefty and righty moves are rarely optimal
- Unless you’re not in home grip before encountering a specific case, lefty algs are usually not worth it.
Maybe before the solve you could choose whether or not your solution will be righty move dominant. (I haven’t tried this myself, I’m not ambidextrous)
