Community Feedback: how can the site improve?

I have a suggestion
The What Cube Should I Get guide in the resources section seems to be outdated. It might be a good idea to look into that
Also, some sites don't have secure connections

Should I make a megathread of the current best cubes for different pricepoints, with alternate options?

Seems like a good idea since there are so many good options. It might be better than someone just making a list. Also ppl can expresss why they like those cubes

what if we have a giant pole where people can submit what they think are the best cubes at every price point

I think a re-description of the WR solves sub-forum could be helpful, plus its removal from video gallery into general discussions. The de-facto usage of that sub-forum is increasingly far removed from the de-jure guidelines. I think this was initially caused by the fact that the red WR tags are only found in that sub-forum, and posting in general without the tag before the video was out was a bit weird, when the news of a WR is pretty significant, and the red color can signal quickly the news of a WR, before a video is needed. Also, the requirement to have the video in the first post of the thread is not usually followed.

I think that the WR/CR/NR sub-forum should be about general discussions of the solve, and not just for the video. This is already its de-facto usage today, but formalizing it would reduce any remaining confusion.

i have an idea. we could do something that when you registrer to a comp, the organisers pit a date for submitting and you automatically get a notification x days in advance. we could also have a "my competitions" swction where you could see all the comps youre in.

I would love it if there was an inspection time in the competition time, like on the CS timer.
Go to the Settings tab in the Competition page. There is a checkbox there for "WCA Inspection (only activated for non-blindfolded events)". Select that, and from then on you will get inspection time, featuring my voice at 8 seconds, 12 seconds, and when you go over. LOL.

Just reminding of this:
Please only post here when there is a video to watch. If not, it can go in Speedcubing discussion and we will move it here once there is a video available.
(The above is from a different, unreplyable thread)

Is there any reason this should remain the case? The WR tags are not available in speedcubing discussion, and no one in the past year or 2 has followed this consistently. Instead of trying to enforce a rule that is not being followed (for understandable reasons) why not change the rules to reflect what actually happens? Take WR/CR/NR solves out of the video gallery subforum and make it so these threads are about the WRs in general, and not just the videos

Please, please add a cooldown timer for replying to a thread. Even if it's just 5 mins. It will mean people have to think a bit longer before they send things, or it will force them to go back and edit their posts instead.

I'm beggin you @pjk !😭
even like a pop-up with info on editing messages and including quotes for replying to a bunch of messages at the same time would be helpful

@Martyt7777 does have a fair point. I have a lot of people talking to me, and I lack time enough already to wait 5 minutes. I think that the way things are right now are fine. But it is a good idea to encourage members to think before they post. Maybe we can think of a different way for controlling how much quality a person puts into a post?
