What I'd advise you to do is turn a little slower and try to lookahead continuously. For edges, just do a lot of really fast cube rotations to look for pieces. I'm not going to tell you not to use AvG (even though I personally find it hard to use and recognize), but you might want to give freeslice a try.

Ooh I like the Japanese color scheme as well. I just switched on my 3x3 a few days ago and I like solving the blue cross (favorite color) .

Why do you always say things like "I suck" and "no one cares"? Self-deprecation isn't good if you over do it and start putting yourself down. :/
