Hi,
I was wondering about the difficulty of each puzzle since I've only got 3x3x3s.
Originally I wanted to know whether the Megaminx or the 4x4x4 is more difficult since the Megaminx seems a lot more complicated to me.

Feel free to make a list with the difficulty of each puzzle in the order of difficulty you think it is correct :D

I'd say 4x4 is harder than megaminx because 4x4 you need to learn redux, while withe megaminx you just do a bunch of F2L slots and beginner's LL. After you know redux, cubes larger than 4x4 aren't that hard.

in my opinion, 3x3x3, 5x5x5 and 7x7x7 are all essentially the same beast, but i have difficulty with 4x4x4 and 6x6x6. I dont have any other puzzles!

I also found the 4x4x4 easier than megaminx. Everyone says megaminx is easy, it's just like a 3x3... but with all those sides, it just really confused me :p

3x3 is hard if you don't have any guides (like me... LL spamming FTL...)
4x4 is harder than the 3x3, but you can solve intuitively (I like intuitive :))
5x5 is kinda hard, but not as hard as 4x4 once you can use redux well...
2x2 is REALLY easy (once you can 3x3 solve)
1x1 is by far the easiest...
Minx is hard, but you can solve it without help (like me... I just figured out I'm using the same style as Nakajima that I figured out on my own... OMG!!!) *you can solve it just like a 3x3, just make sure you know how to diagram piece tracking... it helps...
I'm getting a Sq-1, and I havn't tried one, My brother is also getting a Piraminx, (pyramid, not the dodecahedron...) so I might write about those later...

It totally depends on what you mean by difficult. If you mean which one is more difficult to learn or which one is more difficult to solve after you've learnt it.
I'd say it's most difficult to learn the 3x3 when you don't know how to solve anything else before.
If you don't think about it like that, then I'd say no puzzle is really difficult to learn how to solve. But ofcourse some are a lot easier than others, for example, pyraminx is really easy to learn, or just figure out by yourself, but if you don't already know how, it's a lot harder to figure out how to solve a 4x4.

The golden cube is pretty evil because the recognition of the cubies is difficult, as well as the fact that there are traps (at first, you can't determine the orientation of one of the "cubies", which can make solving the rest impossible if the "cubie" in question is badly oriented). Otherwise, it's the same as a skewb

i don't really think that any puzzle is difficult once you learn to solve it...
It's about which puzzles are more difficult (to learn: e.g. more algorithms, more complicated notations and moves etc.) than other puzzles.
The puzzle that requires the most algs for me to solve is 6x6x6 and even that one only requires (multi-layer) sune/niklas, pairing parity, OLL parity, PLL parity and 5 other algs (sune is one of them) for 3x3x3. In total that means only 8 algs for the "hardest" puzzle.

Once you know some basic twisty puzlle techniques most other puzzles aren't a big challenge anymore

Megaminx would be much harder than a 4x4 for a beginner in my opinion. A beginner wouldn't know the concept of OLL and PLL so it would get really confusing at the LL.

I disagree - I use my beginner method for the megaminx - layer-by-layer for the most part, and last layer with the sequence orient edges, permute edges, permute corners, orient corners.

A 4x4 requires at least deeper insight into how it should be solved, as well as methods for realizing that solution.
