What do you consider world class for any event?

I don't think the quanitity of regions recognized by the WCA is applicable in considering what makes an individual "world class". The primary argument is that there are a disproportionate number of cubers in certain countries. For example, getting top 10 NR in USA or China is going to be FAR more difficult than breaking top 10 NR in Bhutan or St. Lucia. The populations are not only higher, but competitions are more frequent and therefore, more accessible to a greater number of cubers. If you look at any top 100 on the WCA rankings, you'll see that a handful of countries comprise the majority of any given list.
This is completely valid. The sizes and population density among the nations recognized by the WCA do indeed vary. The chances of there being a worldclass cuber in somewhere, say China are much higher than somewhere like Australia. And the bar for what is top n is indeed raised or lowered based off of this. With that said, I did compensate for this as I added that given the competitive atmosphere of the WCA, countries are allowed to bump each other out. In terms of competition accessibility, this is a good point, but it is also a variable. It also reminded of other variables which are time and money. In my opinion, the topic of what makes someone world class is now further expanded to not only who is fast, but along with who has money, who has time, and who has access to competitions.

It has become harder to define world class for 3blind,

Just sub-20 single is not an enough criteria.

With 3blind becoming bo5 format in 2026, it would be harder to assess the best cuber and segregate the top performers of the season.

Well if you bumped this, I made a form about world class for every event and for 3bld it was close between sub 20 and sub 18 iirc

For ones where it was a close vote, maybe you could take the mean of the 3 most popular results.
Not just like sub 22, 23 and 24 = sub 23 mean but like relative to the % of voters.
So if 40% vote for sub 24, 33% vote for sub 23 and 37% vote for sub 22, youd do the following.
(% × X) + (% × Y) + (% × Z) - (ovr % × 2) then the product divided by the total percent of the 3 choices.
So for this example the formula would be :
(40 × 24 + 33 × 23 + 37 × 22 - (100 × 2)/100

This equals 23.33.

Ewe math, go away (it is good but like, you still got almost 23)
