Race to 10 point MBLD- bldcuber314, yes cubing and BVCuber13

8/10 45:01 MBLD PB in weekly comp! This was the comment on the attempt-

32:30 memo, first 10 cube attempt. Both DNFs were on exec errors. Since I don't have enough 3x3s, I also used a 4x4 and a 5x5, and I only DNFed the 5x5 because I accidentally turned an inner slice. As this would not have happened had I used a 3x3, after the attempt I retried that scramble on a 3x3 and gave myself another attempt to solve it(without a chance to look at it again first). On that attempt, I solved the cube. However, if this goes against the rules of this competition, please inform me and I will change the result back to 7/10 45:01.

While this wouldn't count officially, I think it was the right decision to make as I gained no advantage from doing this over what would have happened had I used a 3x3.

I got my first 10 pointer today, it was great racing you @yes cubing and @BVCuber13 !

12/12 51:01 MBLD PB single! This is a huge jump from my 8/10 previous PB, and it's great to finally have a good PB in this event. This is actually my first N/N result since my first success, which was a 2/2 😂.

I structured this attempt with three packs of four, using a variation of a memory palace system which I personally prefer to the standard system. With this system, I assign each cube a different room or place(such as my bedroom, or a classroom, it's not hard to think of 12 places) and fit all of my memo from that cube(one image for edges, one for corners) into that one room without splitting the room into locations. I like this better as there are less images to remember, I end up assigning more meaning to the memo(which I find easier to remember) and the images feel less claustrophobic as they can take up the entire room instead of a small location such as a shelf.

This attempt was very smooth, and I made good time despite it still essentially being a safety as there was very little chance of me hitting the 1 hour limit.

My reviews-

Memo means memoed for the first time, and review that cube a couple of times.
Review means mentally review cubes, and check the cube if I need to.

For edge flips and corner twists, I memoed with letter pairs, but backed them up visually which I found to be the best system after previously memoing only visually.

Congrats on the huge PB and for winning the race! As for me, I haven’t done a MBLD attempt since my last comp a month ago, but hopefully I’ll reach this milestone soon

It’s not a 10 pointer, but it’s a PB! 8/8 46:59, super happy to have skipped 7 points completely 🔥

I found this thread and now I kinda want to get back into blind, but like last week I did like 30 edges only solves and got like only 18/30 successes and I was averaging like 1:30 (I averaged sub-2 for all of 3bld last september before I quit
I guess I'll jump straight into mbld later (for the funny) and see what I get
I'll probably keep using this thread until I get 10 points

18/30 isn't bad, especially considering you were probably practicing BLD for almost an hour. Good luck with your progression!

Don't worry, I was also averaging sub 2 minutes last year, but when I started practicing BLD again, I was more like 3-4, then I started the 4bld grind and quickly, without even trying, got sub 2 at 3bld

Yeah practicing any BLD event really helps with general BLD improvement. When I started grinding big BLD, I also improved in 3BLD and my max MBLD cubes sub hour went from like 15 to 23 with no MBLD practice(and now 25 with some MBLD practice)

5/8 42:27 in weekly comp
27:04 memo
impressive for my first attempt in a year, and first 8 cube attempt ever (havent done 7 either)
dnf 1: two swapped edges and two swapped and flipped edges
dnf 2: Ub perm in the back, setup move error during corners
dnf 3: 2 flipped edges

ill do more
at some point
actually nah ill do a 2 cube right now
1/2 5:47 cuz im just amazing

Do you feel like you could go for a 10-11 cube attempt next?

just did another multi attempt, tried 7 cubes, got 6/7 in like 38 mins i think
better than last weeks 5/8
i could remember which memo was for cube 4 and cube 5 so i just executed memo 4 on both so that i would get 1 cube solved guaranteed instead of either 0 or 2, so cube 5 was completely scrambled
i always do the same memo twice if i get them mixed up because last year at a comp i attempted four cubes but somehow swapped 1 and 2, and 3 and 4 (im amazing)
