when i use beginner.. i can solve about 45 sec
then i switch to f2l... and it become 2 minutes...
see i know your problem because i've been there
i think this is what you've missed:
F2L is not something to be memorized.., yes you will need to memorize some algorithm, especially for difficult case.. the more important things is to understand how it work, i mean after you know the algorithm, you need to understand how that pieces join, combined and put into the slot.... if you understand, you wont need to memorize that algorithm, you can create your own..
after a lot of practice, my 3x3x3 solving average now is 21 sec.. with cross+f2l average about 13-14 second, all i do is just practice, i dont memorize the f2l algorithm. i memorize on OLL PLL. and i think all you need to do is just practice, learn the f2l to see how it works, and dont time yourself, play it just for fun...
after you know how it works, your time will be better, to get a lot better, you need to learn how to look ahead, to minimize the delay between pair, and to combine the 4 slot f2l into 1 combined algorithm without too much delay between pair...once again, to go fast you'll need to go slow and learn..
go slow and learn, dont memorize f2l alg, better memorize pll then oll, and dont time yourself everyday.. f2l is like learning to ride a bike, you need to learn first so you wont fall, after you'e advance then you can go to do bycicle race..
just learn and have fun.. you'll progress faster
and please NEVER do cross on top..
