TPS Question

A TPS of 13 is really good if you're doing an actual solve. If you're just doing a sextuple sexy, then it's average. I recommend recording your timed solves to get a better estimate of your TPS. If you want to get faster times, I'd recommend not trying to improve your TPS at first, but focusing on your lookahead. What do you average?

I currently average sub50/60, with a PB of 39.48. However, I use a weird mash of Beginner and CFOP method, as I learned algs from like 50 different sites. I’m currently learning 4LLL

13 TPS for spamming sexy moves is probably average. Elite turners can comfortably get around 25 TPS spamming sexy moves (or similar spam sequences). The real question is how fast you can execute the actual algorithms that you use in solves, and the realer question is how well can you maintain TPS in solves overall (lookahead factors into that, though).

Just curious, is a TPS of 13 good? And how can I improve my TPS?

Also, I got a TPS of thirteen by doing the Sexy move six times (why is it called that) and calculated from that. I’m probably a bit slower in actually algs
for ll tps what i do is train lsll,if your ll tps gets higher then i guess your general tps will get better too

but i think what you should do first is to learn full cfop, get used to the algs and develop muscle memory, your tps will get better over time.and while you're doing that make sure you use good finger tricks and try to only regrip when necessary

I would say 13 is your max possible tps for now, as in a normal solve your tps would be wayy lower

If you had 13 tps overall in your 39.84, you would have done 513 turns, which is insane considering the average beginner's method solve is around 120 moves (this of course depends on where you learned from), and the average cfop solve is 55-60 moves
If you do 90 turns in your solves and you average 45, you would have only 2 tps, which means you either use a terrible cube, or you need to work on your lookahead
I think you should learn intuitive F2L to lower your movecount and your times overall, and focus on your lookahead more,
I can also critique your solves (I average 7 seconds) either DM me here or on discord (thecubeisalie) with a video and I'll tell you what you need to work on

I average 15, yesterday I tried spamming sexies(why), with timer on my lap, and holding the cube as I start the timer, to get closest possible to the actual time it took to do the turns.

My best TPS was around 20. But this is for a sub 15 solver. I remember when I was averaging 45, my top speed spamming sexies was around 8-10. This was probably unusually slow, but shows that you don't have to worry about your top TPS.

Your TPS in a solve is most definitely wayyy lower then 13, (as @precompsubwr outlined) but either way, don't worry about TPS with your current times, if you want to learn CFOP, just do that for now, also, don't even think about lookahead, that is a bad idea for a 45 second solver, and it also was for me, a 20-25 second solver.

to the people saying you should learn lookahead (B3Cuber13 and precompsubwr)/mentioning lookahead in a way that makes it sound like Pixilized should learn lookahead, (everyone else) please don't encourage that for a 45 second solver, that is a recipe for disaster. (I understand that for B3Cuber13 they didn't know the average, but they should at least make a follow up saying they shouldn't learn lookahead.)

Tbf, I said to focus on lookahead because I didn't have anything to base my tips off on so we wouldn't know what his solves look like

Also (to @Pixilized) now that I know that you use your right hand to do turns too much I'm also suggesting getting used to using your left hand in solves, because relying on one hand too much can cause problems with fingertricks (this is already starting to happen), and it's hard to improve if you don't have the proper fingertricks

Ok, thanks. I’ll try to improve using my left hand. And thanks to everyone else as well, I’ll try to take your advice into account

A 13 TPS in an actual solve is insanely good yooooo.

Just sexy move TPS does not mean anything
