just out of curiosity and boredom:

Assuming a person is decent at different speedsolving events but wants to try a different hobby, what would you guys recommend?

Chess obviously
I played one of the craziest chess tournament games of my life yesterday. I was positionally better against a guy like 1000 points higher than me (my provisional rating is like 650) out of a semislav where he played a bit cramped but I went too aggressive for an attack and it failed into a queen vs rook+bishop endgame which I immediately blundered. Typical game

what rank were up when you quit? i still play ad im nearing top 30k
I peaked around 1.5k I think but this was in 2017 and now I think the rank is in the 20-30k range. I could play in my state's 5USC but I'm way out of practice now.

I'm not planning to quite cubing any day soon (I still want that 3bld WR),
But I do like to compose/play songs on the piano and I've been recently trying to write lyrics for some of my tunes
