Is a 1-second clock single possible in comp?

This took way too long to make. If you wouldn’t mind reading it, I’d appreciate it!

I don’t know how to go about finding probabilities for 7-simul, but for flip, I may be able to provide some understanding

First of all, since there is no move limits to clock like there are in 3x3 and 2x2 beyond a general “2 moves” theoretically, yes. However, I think that this is highly unlikely. From calculating 12^4(Each of the 4 edges’ probabilities to be centered to c, the middle clock), that equals 20,734. I can deduce that there is a 1 in 20,734 chance of a scramble having all of the edges on one side being solved. Multiply that by 12 (that c is centered with the other 4 clocks to 12) and the odds of a first side skip in Flip is 1:248832.

The very fast Flip solver can average mid 3-low 4 TPS, but since I am eliminating the flip, I’ll estimate at 4 TPS. There are 8 clocks to solve, and a 9th to align them back to 12. For a sub 2 solve, there would have to be at least one skip, which isn’t completely unlikely.

Thus, for flip, it is possible, but 1:248832 odds for one scramble is not good.

we've seen some incredible clock solves. The question is: will someone improve at clock so much that there might be an official high 1 in a few years? obviously, TPS and accuracy are key for this.

Post your thoughts below!
I would almost think of it like this:

What is the UWR for clock (apparently it's sub-2)? The UWR is the fastest we've seen (obviously), and theoretically, with the right time and place, a solver could get that time in a competition. Again, nerves play a role, but just looking at the solves we've already seen, its totally possible.

Mick Boekema has 2 sub 2s on cam, he already has a sub 3 single officially, so he potentially might get sub 2 in around ayear i believe.

Edit i just heard that Volo gets an sub 2 around every 20 solves

Translation:
Could be possible right?
In like a year

I mean yeah
volodymyr gets around every 20 solves a sub 2

Sub-2 is very possible within a few years.

Recently Volodymyr and Eryk (WR2 and WR1) have both gotten 7 tps solves, considering the best method 7-simul is at most 14 moves, this means it guarantees a sub-2 single, however, the average movecount for 7 simul is about 12 moves.

Meaning a lucky scramble (8-9 moves) and good turning from one the people i mentioned will result in a sub-2 single.

Compared to the WR average the single is really bad and i expect it to be broken really soon.

My personal prediction is that we will see a sub-2 on clock in March 2025, which is in about 10 months. Recently we've developed a new clock method where you can force 6 simul solutions rougly 1/5 times, so getting lucky scrambles is even more common once people start to use this technique
Would you mind telling us about this technique, and what makes it different than regular 7 simul?
