Justin's progression thread // Sub 20 ao100 soon!? // #FTOforWCA

Really nice session so far. New PB single: 20.67 and I finally got a sub 25 ao12! I think I got 5 new pb averages this session, including ao5s too.

I'm planning on using speedcubedb for learning the algs and then jperm.net for drilling, but may use speedcubedb's trainer instead
Speedcubedb’s trainer is good, but I prefer CSTimer’s personally. That way, I don’ have to change websites, and you can customize which cases you get by clicking the little settings wheel on the top where the scramble is. I like it, but I understand not everyone uses CSTimer, so there’s that.

I use CSTimer, I just never knew that was a feature. I'll try to figure out how to use it right now!

You can do this for any alg set, you get have to find what general scramble to use (in your case “3x3 CFOP”), then you click on the right box to change the algorithm set (in your case, “OLL”), and finally, you click on the settings wheel to choose which cases you want to drill.

For some reason I can't click the settings gear to change the cases, nothing happens. It might be because I have the CSTimer+ chrome extension, but I'm not sure. It's fine though, I'll only use that to drill cases once I learn all the algs

A comp has been announced that is 30 minutes away from me, so I'm definitely going. It's in July, and today marks the date where I am starting my comp grind. My time goals are:
1. Make 6x6 cutoff (sub 4 minutes)
2. Make 4x4 cutoff (sub 1.5 minutes, should be easy)
3. Get a sub-15 3x3 average
4. Get a sub 50 second 3 BLD solve (then I'll be the best Justin in the world!)

Method/alg goals:
5. Learn full oll before the comp
6. Learn to recognize 4x4 pll cases better
7. Start a CSTimer 6x6 session
8. DRILL MY F2L (it's horrible)

Might wanna mention what I average in those events and what methods I use:
3x3: I use CFOP with full PLL, and I want to learn full OLL before the comp.
4x4: I use Yau with 3-2-3 edge pairing, I average around 1:30 seconds but I only have 20 solves in my session, so I can easily improve
6x6: I've only ever solved my 6x6 5 times, about 10 minutes each time. If I practice I should be able to get sub-4 easily (I use redux, should I use yau instead?)
3bld: I can easily get a sub-10 solve, if I don't DNF it… I use op/op, and am going to learn m2 sometime soon

this is me finding out for the first time that csTimer has customizable cases 😵‍💫

I haven't been practicing 4x4 or 6x6, but I got my first sub-10 3bld success today (6:52.30). I also just got two 16 second solves (PB3 and PB4 I think) and a PB ao5 (18.66) while recording for a demo on my solve critique website. I only did 5 solves, and of course got the two 16 second solves and a PB while not trying. That's cubing logic for you!
