[WR] Yiheng Wang 0.93 2x2 average

He asked for an extra when he should not have, and then was awarded the extra which should not have been awarded.
So the WRC just declared the extra invalid, and the original 5th solve stands. This will give him a 1.10 avg.

But the WRC didn't say anything in the incident report about the original 5th solve not being signed, as was shown in the video. Unless he signed it after the video showed the scorecard, then that original 5th solve should now be a DNF, which would give him a 1.27 avg.

as someone said earlier, there has been recurring occurrences of Chinese cubers asking for extras to get good results (Yiheng in worlds finals, for example)

it's poor sportsmanship and I believe that the WCA ABSOLUTELY made the right decision. Whether Yiheng or Zayn or someone else breaks it, the sub-1 barrier should be broken properly, not on a second chance.

I agree. A worlds finals is GOING to be loud, and there is no reason you should be asking for an extra because of crowd noise. (Unless the distraction is a big one) He should wear earmuffs if he wants to block out noise.

When the cover was lifted before Yiheng said he was ready, he should have called over a delegate before starting the solve, not after. If he is afraid of a DNF, he should start the timer before calling over the delegate. Giving an extra is just giving Yiheng a second chance.

I am happy that the WCA made this decision the way that they did, as it shows that they stick to their values.

It's silly to say that Yiheng is inconsistent with his 2x2 averages. Of his last 21 averages, 11 have been between 1.21 and 1.40 with 3 averages of 1.10 or faster. His three worst averages in those 21 are 2.32, 2.09, and 1.75. His Standard Deviation in those solves is 0.32. His mean for the 21 averages is 1.43.

Meanwhile, in HIS last 21 averages, Zayn has a standard deviation 0.31. HIS three best averages are 1.12, 1.12, and 1.20. 11 of his averages are 1.50 or higher. His three worst are 2.41, 1.93, and 1.90. His mean for the 21 averages is 1.52.

In other words, in recent action, their standard deviations (AKA "consistency") are basically the same but Yiheng's results are significantly better.
