Yiheng's Mom slapping Yiheng in Public

unfortunately, this is not the solution. the wca needs to keep in mind that any actions against the mother can affect Yiheng negatively. In asian culture, if the name of the family is disgraced by association with the child, the child is often murdered. Yiheng wang is not the only one in the world that has received this type of treatment. He'll manage.

edit: this post has received negative reaction. I apologize for improper clarification. please read following posts
This isn’t ancient China he isn’t getting murdered

Dang that’s so stupid. No kid should be punished for not solving a twisty puzzle fast enough. It was so sad to me to see a 9 year old child looking so sad and depressed.

Just because there is culture and tradition doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do.
Exactly. It’s not uncommon at all in any Asian fam tbh even till nowadays, but this doesn’t mean that it’s the best way to teach their kids to be a good person in the future. As someone who actually knows YiHeng’s fam and also part of the Chinese cubing community in person, I would say that most of the time his mom is reasonable, and also feeling proud of YiHeng, especially within the Chinese cubing community. However, under certain circumstances her mom may sometimes go irrational and also kinda venting her emotions on YiHeng, which is not a great thing to see.

As from my observation:
YiHeng’s mom MBTI: ENFJ
YiHeng’s MBTI: ISTJ

very cool that you are familiar with these people. And thanks for the observation. For me personally, I know that asian parents are very proud. almost to a fault sometimes. I know that deep down his parents probably jsut want him to be successful, and everyone does stupid stuff sometimes.

I wasn’t trying to make fun of Yiheng’s mom beyond “don’t hit your kids, that’s bad” the graphic was just kinda meant for comedic effect. Also, there’s an almost 0% chance Yiheng or his mom will see my video, or care about it if they do. (Does Yiheng’s mom know English?) I’m not disagreeing that, if Yiheng’s mom were to see my video AND care, it’d suck for Yiheng, and I’d feel bad for that, but I feel like whatever Tangled Cubing (the guy who said Tymon was bullying Yiheng) would make a video 10x worse than mine could ever be.
Yes, she does, she actually asked me and my friends in clear English whether or not we filmed his solves back in Beaconhouse Malaysia Cube Open 2023. I feel quite bad for Yiheng, he DNF a pyraminx solve and +2d out of AsR 2x2 average in the same comp.
I know this is kinda insensitie but can I see him flipping off the camera?
A friend of mine has a picture but I won't post it for obvious reasons.

You can’t take a a mother and child to court for the mother slapping a child. It is seen as a punishment and not a crime/abuse.
domestic violence/parental abuse?

you do need sufficient evidence though which is unlikely as you mostly only see him in comps
+ you do need to secretly examine him without his parent noticing which is more unlikely to be possible to do.

and also, punishment?????? sorry but i dont get the idea. punishment for me is discipline. its when you do something WRONG. so if playing a cube and making it solved, but you still took "long", you will be punished? doesnt make sense.

this is more of prespective kind on what you see it as

from my prespective i see the parent does the wrongdoings, but if its for a dumb reason and does not apologise, and its repeated, i think some legal action is needed.

the child obviously cant do anything to help, so its basically on us to help him. Either leave him or help. Choose your path. (okay not gonna be too dark). Anyway, yeah its basically the parents fault and the child cant really do anything about it.

So more further explanation on the two paths.

1: expose (alr been done) get evidence, court.
2: let yiheng grow up to idk probably 13, and then he can do something about it.

reply if you have another path or have any disagreement
