About a year ago my mother purchased a white DIY cube for me from ebay. How do I know what type it is? It has a dull yellow colored core inside. Also, when I recieved it, I had to put it together including the screws in the core, corner caps, and center caps, and also there are no edge caps. Thanks guys.

It might be type A or C... I just had the same question, because I bought 2 white DIY's, and now I can't tell whether its old Type A or Type C, anyone knows how to check this?

... I was too slow ;)

So mine probably is a old type A, too.

EDIT: The cube has these little 'cuts' or sth. like that in 2 corners of the center piece, so you can get the cap off easier!

Type A's have a yellowish core while Type C's have a white core. that should be enough to tell

Cool thanks for your help guys. It must be an old type A since there is no slits to get the center caps off easier.

Huh, I got my type C, and just assumed that the slits for the cap were on all cubes.

At least now I know I have a type C for sure.(There wasn't really any doubt and this mad it even less.)

almost definitely a puzzleproz-brand type A.

evidence:
1) puzzleproz is the only major seller of cubes on ebay
2) it has a dull yellow core, which all puzzleproz type-A's do

also, you wrote that "I had to put it together, including the screws in the core, corner caps, and center caps, and also there are no edge caps."
you have to do this for all DIYs. That's why they're called Do It Yourself cubes.

No, there are others such as Rubikfans (Rubiksfan?), and Huskyomega who sells cubes on ebay and have good feedback.

@not kevin, rubiksfan does not own cube4you. He owns 9spuzzles.

Ah, sorry. I knew that RubikFans (I checked; it's RubikFans) owned some Chinese company, and I assumed c4y.

What cube is that? (A) anyway little offtop, but is it worth to buy this cube? is it a good cube? cause it's pretty cheap... One estonian (I'm contacted with him by e-mail) bought that (the glowing one not white) and says that it isn't so good as a DIY. And mentiones that he's never touched a DIY actually.. He hoped better anyway. So is it a good cube?

Then why does my type C have a yellow core in it?

Holy crap, is that the C4Y white DIY?!?!?!?!

MAN I lost so much money (~$290 USD) buying C4Y and 9spuzzle cubes... I feel so dumb, I could have gotten THIS CUBE WHICH IS SO AWESOME...

I hate DealExtreme now. Not because they rock, but because they should have rocked BEFORE I SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON MY EDISONS.

I could have bought 3 of these cubes per one Edison...
But I'd still prefer the Edisons, dunno why.

Oh...
Still, I bought a White Type C from this guy on eBay for like 12.55...

horrid, now that i think about it. T_T

I also find DX stickers to not suck that hard... I used my DX stickers for about a month longer than the C4Y ones lasted.
