I’ve seen people posting these threads and I thought I’d start one for myself if it could help me feel like improving. I use CFOP (2 Look OLL, full PLL) and used to be sub 20 but after a long break my F2L has become very bad and I’ve forgotten a few PLLs. I‘m now Sub 25 ish. I main the GAN 11 M Pro and also have a Valk 2 LM, although I solve 2x2 by doing first layer, OLL, PLL, so I avg like sub 8 😅. I’ll try upload videos and stuff for you to comment on, especially on how bad my F2L is.

Just ordered this. Time to try something new!

I’ve just bought a 4x4 off my friend. The night before I learned how to solve it with a JPerm video, and also memorised the PLL Parity Alg. After getting it and doing a few solves, I average around 3 minutes without OLL Parity. Given I average 20 on 3x3, what should I be aiming at to be a ‘good average’ for 4x4?

Almost got a new pb. LL was a sune and jb perm.

Try the scramble, I was around a second off my pb because I choked the f2l(had a couple of pairs solve themselves)

Nooooo. 0.14s off. Got a H perm after worst cross oll but f2l was insane

I can't really see what's happening in the first solve, but I'll do the second one.
Cross: You should do L2 instead of L twice for the blue edge, F' D R' D' is a better solution for the red edge, and D moves at the end of your cross give you a little more time for lookahead.
F2L: Your lookahead has room for improvement, doing slow solves can help with that. You also rotated too much, you had 7 rotations when you should really have at most 4. There are a few ways to improve this. First, you should be able to use edge orientation to see which pairs will require a rotation to solve, J Perm has a good video for that. Once you can do that, you should try to do rotationless pairs first, then rotate and do the other pairs. You can rotate to avoid a really bad case though. You should also find better ways to solve f2l pairs so you don't have to rotate. For example, you could have used U moves instead of rotations for your first two pairs. Also, if you do have to rotate, like for your third pair, you should rotate so that you have solved slots in the back. This saves you from the y2 rotation you did before your last pair. Lastly, make sure you know how to do all the f2l cases well. After the cross, y R' U2 R2 U R2 U R(or the lefty version) solves the case you got for the first two pairs with a flipped edge.
OLL: If you're using 2-look OLL, F U R U' R' F' is faster than F R U R' U' R U R' U' F'. At some point you should learn 1-look OLL, but you should focus on your f2l first.
PLL: You should improve your recognition and pre-auf, and practice the alg until you don't mess it up often.
Overall, probably focus on look ahead first, because it's really important for getting faster.
