Upcoming 3x3s

No memeposting on a serious thread.
First thing first, this is not a serious thread. This is just a troll thread made by someone who hate 3x3.
And, GAN Floppy is something GAN seriously considered like a couple months ago.
Never should we overlook the fact that 3x3x1 also belongs to the 3x3 family.

New WCA event incoming??

The price, if true, is not so shocking compared to the older versions. I had thought, with 1296(?) possible settings the price would be $129.60 😉
I hope pricing is not going to be determined by the number of settings, or we will have a really big trouble if makers get the wrong idea.

I’ve not given the time to read much on this, because why would I, but is the only thing they changed the edge magnet adjustment. Ridiculous. If I want strong magnets I will pick the strong setting and if I want weak magnets I’ll pick the weak setting. What does this change? There are probably different ‘settings’ that constitute the same magnet strength so essentially it’s just a ripoff. The hardware itself clearly hasn’t changed because magnet adjustability in my mind isn’t changing the hardware or essence of the cube. So anybody who thinks the price is reasonable, at least by gan standards, has their query answered.

I’m very sorry if this is wrong and if it is correct me and this post will be removed.

The latest news (rumour?) is that after the QiYi M Pro and QiYi M Pro Maglev, there will also be another version later with core magnets thrown in as well.

I wonder, are they staggering the release of each version so that people buy each verson withput knowing the next is coming out? I'm by no mans a businessman but it seems odd not to just release all the versions at th same time or at least very close to eachother.

They may be, by releasing them one by one, trying to make you to buy all three.

Their ad actually shows one with core magnets but I couldn't find anyone selling the core version.
You are right. I extracted this from the end of your video.

By my calculation, a Maglev-CoreMagnetic version will be heavier than their own Tornado Pioneer, which is clearly not as popular as their Tornado Flagship. So, why are they releasing this, and not a Spring-CoreMagnetic version instead? Are they making the same mistake as Moyu, ie making Maglev a mandatory option in the higher products, even though it is not necessarily doing much for most cubers, just more weight, cost and, from most reviews, more problems in stability or control?

BAD maths haha
The actual number would be over 744,000 different combinations of settings...
IF the edge magnets can be adjusted from only one side (i.e., x12)...
but if you have to adjust the magnets on each side of each edge, then the total number is x2
= over 1,488,000 different combination
not sure Shawn appreciated getting corrected on his bad math, he still hasn't replied to the comment I posted about the actual numbers haha

EDIT:➡️ the math: (↙️⬇️↘️ lol)

6 center-travel-distance settings
6 center tension settings
6×6 = 36 different possible center settings
Since each center can have 1 of 36 different settings ×6 centers,
Total possible centers settings combinations = 216

Each edge piece has 3 different possible magnet settings, so
3! × 12 edgea = (3×2×1) × 12
Total possible edges settings combinations = 72

Each corner piece has 3 different possible core-magnet settings (none/light/strong), so
3! × 12 = (3×2×1) × 8
Total possible corner-core settings combinations = 48

So all the possible different settings combinations for the entire cube is:
216 × 72 × 48 = 746,496

and if the edges have separate magnet adjustments on each side of the edge, that makes the total possible edge combinations ×2
and therefore:
Total possible different sttings combinations for the entire cube would be:
746,496 × 2 = 1,492,992

edited and added the math ... iyc

By the time we go through all the settings, Ruihang Xu will be the world champion for above age 60 senior category
