Upcoming puzzles

wait wait wait gan 5x5?! i am very behind
Oh yea we have been talking about it for a couple weeks now lol.
You didn't miss much, just the prototype hidden in the background of a photo

It's been talked about since Nov 2021, when TheCubicle did a video interview with Ganyuan Jiang, founder of Gan, and he said they were working on a 5x5 and a Sq1 and he said "next year" meaning 2022.

As I talk to them about that, seems like they may make Ball Core Dayan Nezha 5x5 as well, but they will never try on making Ball Core Ambition 4x4 as they just hate it, and I'm still talking to them about the Ball Core Zhilong mini 4x4
Next time you talk to them, will you ask if they plan on putting the ball core kits for these cubes on their English site? I'd buy the Dayan mega, Aosu 4x4, and MGC 5x5 kits right now if I knew Chinese.

The Dayan mega kits is like nearly the same price as a premium setup dayan mega with core magnets and it’s a lot of work to do so I think it’s kinda pointless. However the 4x4 & 5x5 kits are just the same price as the skewb or pyraminx kits here

The Pi edition V9 just arrived and it's fantastic! It's like a Super Tornado V3 Flagship.

Quick impressions. I was worried about the lack of magnet adjustment but it's fine. It feels just right, and feels so light and nice, even without lubrication. The UV looks great from 2 feet away, but its surface far from perfectly flat. You can see crosses and circles from their reflections, just like on some other recent lightweight Moyu pieces, eg their AI cube, except this time the shiny UV surface makes it more noticeable. And this UV is slippery, at least for my dry fingers. Maybe it's fine for those with sweater hands, but I don't know if I want any UV cubes in future. If you live in some super dry places like North Texas and have dry hands, watch out. It can affect control.

I generally value smooth feel quietness more than pure speed performance, slow solver here, but this cube might just change my mind. It is already so good, even before any lube, any adustment and any breaking in. This is not a quiet cube though. It also has spring noise. No regrets, thanks, Fukuoka, for recommending this. Tell us how you like yours.

Yeah just want to note that I had very mixed feelings about UV coating when I first got the the UV Gan 12 (my first UV cube). I went back and forth between really liking and not liking it since my hands can get really really dry. After time has passed, I've really gotten used to them and really like them.
TLDR, you'll probably get used to the UV coating after time.

I am not fussed about cosmetics. So it's fine. I also don't particularly like the mix of internal colours, with the light blue ball and "bowler" hat added to all the many already jumbled up colours from a split piece design. Of course, if Moyu had designed this themselves, with a capped piece design, it would have looked much prettier IMO, eg like what they had in their WRM Maglev 2021. However, I do not really care.

One other quick observation. It is 72.5g. i had calculated it to be 68g before, using the weight information from the other Moyu V9's and working out their differences in weight, and hence what removal of maglev and edge piece magnets should give us. So, the extra 4g must have come from changes in the spring and/or core magnets. I doubt they changed the other magnets. Based on my limited knowledge and preferences, I say that it works really well, whatever it however they changed those magnets and springs. 👍👏👏👏 I had not thought it could beat the Tornado Flagship, but IMO, it clearly does. (My Flagship is the early version, which does not have a "ball" to hold the core magnets.) This Pi WRM is effortless to turn and it does not overshoot. I like how it let me turn quicker and still have control. The combination of magnets just works YMMV, particularly if you prefer a different magnet strength than what Moyu has chosen for us.

have you tried Google Translate's option to translate a while webpage by pasting in the web URL ?

sometimes it gives sketchy results but it also often works pretty well, worth a shot

If you're using the Google Chrome browser, all you have to do is right click on the page and choose Translate to English (or whatever languarge you're using).

Wow $44 isn’t really that bad for you guys I guess, I got mine with premium setup and express shipping for $33 tho including a free stickerless WRM 2019

@Dan the Beginner glad that you like it as well. As I mentioned, mine came with premium setup so it needs some breaking in before it becomes the best cube to turn. After like 100 solves I’ve done on it last week, it’s now the best 3x3 I’ve ever had and it’s definitely my new main.
