Jorian Meeuse's progression thread (Kinch WR230 ER70 NR4)

Congrats on your nrs!!

Did you run out of time during mbld?
Thanks!
Yeah kinda, I couldn't recall 3 of the last 6 cubes and when I remembered them the time was up. Also the paper holder didn't work, it fell down every time which made me mess up on the second cube already. Kinda sad, but I didnt really expect a lot better because I had a bad night (missed a train lol)

BigBLD NRs are both very beatable still, which I guess is only an advantage. On 5BLD i had to undo like 5 algs because I missed one. Would have been easy sub 5:30 or so. The second attempt was a 5:38 DNF by 3 wings.

Sadly I don't have the NRs on video because the camera just stopped recording.

I wanna get faster at cubing and seeing as you have very fast times for 3x3 and Blind. I want to know what was easier. Learning PLL or OLL First?
Learn full PLL first. It saves around the same time as oll does and takes half the time to learn

Of course it doens't hurt to learn a couple easy OLLs while learning PLL

This was very nice for my kinch ranks lol, I'm currently 21st of the country, but I think I might be top 10 after this. Because of the NRs the Netherlands will also go up 1 or 2 ranks in the country kinch.

Also, the 2:47.49 was my first ever sub 3 6x6 solve.
According to the kinch rank calculator found here, my country kinch is 57.7 now, which would mean I am 5th in the country! In order to beat Mats Valks kinch and get 4th, I would need to get a 19.26 clock average. Time to buy a clock :)

What are Kinch Ranks?

if you copy this sheet

(Desktop: Make a copy of this sheet by going to "file"
and then "make a copy" .
Mobile: Click the 3 dots on the upper right corner, then
"share and export", then finish by clicking "make a copy")

and entering your wca id and country (if you want) you can find your kinch

FINALLY A SUB 5!!!!!
Time: 4.99
D' R2 U2 F' L2 B' D2 L2 F2 R2 F' R U2 L2 R D2 R U'
x2 // inspection, planned 3 pairs
D R' L2 D2 R' // xx cross
y' L' U L2 U' L' // F2L-3
U' L' U L // F2L-4
R U2 R' U2 R' F R F' // OLL(CP)
(Look down on timer and get nervous, oops)
U2 R' U R' U' R3 U' R' U R U R2 U // EPLL
35 / 4.992 = 7.01 TPS

Full step! Such an easy double x cross and last two pairs helped though

Edit: I just realized LL skip would have been sub 3 at least, downsolving F2L only while going as fast as it felt during the solve gives 2.5 consistently (unrealistic but fun to think about haha)

Looking at your times from Big 'n Blind 2023, I honestly thought you got your first sub 5 a bit sooner ngl
Then again, I'm not sure this is your first.

Nice 3x3 mean, probably PB but idk
Mo3: 6.86
Times: 7.52, 7.72, 5.35

Recon of the 5.35:
F' D' L2 F2 U R2 B2 D' R2 D2 L2 R2 U' B D' L U F R' D R
x2 D L F R2 U R U2 R' U R U' R U2 R' L U' L' // planned cross and first two pairs, also considered doing D L F R2 U R U R' U R U L U L' U2 R' U R but figured that was too unsafe. Didn't consider keyhole lol
U2 R U R' y' U R' U' R y' U R' U' R2 // finish F2L, cancel into OLL
U R' U' M' U R U' Rw' U2 // finish LL

Huge Congrats on all of your NRs and PB's Jorian! Havent been actively following along your thread but I want to change that. Good Luck with all your future comps!
Thanks! I might be going to a comp in belgium soon to compete in clock and finally have an official result in every event (except for the BLD means), still don't have a clock though
