Upcoming puzzles

at 17:27 you can see him trying to pull the U layer and it's not moving even though the layers look lined up, then at 17:47 again you see him pull the U layer and it doesn't move. Again at 18:23 he's repeatedly trying to do a U move and the layer is not turning. I counted 9 times he tried to do a U move and the layer didn't turn.

The Diansheng just locks up for some reason. The Yuxin is much better and smoother to turn. I really was rooting for and hoping the Dianshen Gigaminx would be amazing. So disappointed that it's really not.

I think the DianSheng is a lot better (I have both yuxin magnetic and DianSheng).
The reason why some are saying that it’s “catching” is just that its not made for big hands. My hands are small and I enjoy using it a lot more.

Thanks for watching my video :) In the DianSheng's defence, my recording setup is very awkward, so I'm holding the thing with my arms at maximum stretch while staring at a tiny version of the puzzle on the viewfinder. A

Having done actual solves since then, and loosening the tensions a bit, I find it faster and more comfortable for speedsolving
than the Yuxin for sure (but as I say in the video, I'm by no means a top Gigaminx solver!). I have to agree with Fukuoka Kengo James that the DianSheng is tougher to handle for those of us with bigger hands, so for chill-out slow-solving I'm still glad I have the Yuxin :)

yeah I have really large hands too, and the Diansheng is small for sure. I still find mine catches a lot even when it looks like the layers are lined up. I have a ton of *minxes and it's the only one that does that for me.

It's a really cool minx and I like it a lot, I just want to like it more.

I have small hands but I love my yuxin gigaminx and hated the diansheng when I tried it

I found that the DianSheng ootb was obviously not evenly tensioned, but for the yuxin as every sides were just as stiff ootb, I didn’t even notice the problem. Also as the DianSheng is smaller, it’s a lot easier to do finger tricks on it once it’s setup, as to me the size is much better. To me even the yuhu is already stupidly large and bulky, and the yuxin is just huge. I agree that the DianSheng is harder to setup, but it should be way better once correctly setup.

wow it's up for pre-order on Cubicle and I already have it in my hands.

Yeah I get that, totally fair :) Maybe they need to work on their QA process too, sounds like you got a particularly rough one!

A lot of my collection consists of barely-turnable twisty puzzles from mf8 and suchlike, so when it comes to speedcubing kit I tend to be more forgiving than the speedcubing specialists. To me the Diansheng Gigaminx has its issues but still feels like a dream compared to the Shengshou, or the old mf8 Gigaminx *shudder*.

In any case, all I want in life is a complete set of stickerless Minxes, whether it's Yuxin or Diansheng, or both. Especially the conspicuously missing 10x10.

I wonder what the market and purpose of this new cube is
To make more money for GAN without actually designing a new puzzle, I don’t think I need to watch the video to tell it’s an existing mechanism with a slight change in the adjustment features marketed as “the latest cube from GAN with all new features”. The video doesn’t show the mech but I would bet it’s a recycle of an older cube

DianSheng 3x3's - 70mm, 80mm, 90mm, 100mm
magnetic and adjustable
Supposed to be released in a month.

and in the same IG post, someone asked when 12x12, and DianSheng responded "next month".

funny I still want an MF8 Giga for the collection. Very hard to find one these days. Really hard to find almost anything by MF8.

yeah kind of what I was thinking too. I still think the Gan 356 M Lite is the best bang for the buck cube you can get. It's like $20-$25 and it's a fantastic cube. I've bought a bunch of them for myself and to gives friends and their kids. I still go through my collection of Gans and go through the Air, 356, 11 M Pro, 12, Duo, etc. and always end up thinking the 356 M Lite is one of the best cubes they ever made.

I really like the UV coated 11 Pro and the 12 too, but they're expensive. The 356 M Lite gets you like 90% of the way there for a fraction of the cost.

So when I see them release another oddball cube like this I just think, "why?"... it's probably just to release it because there's a bunch of people who'll buy anything Gan releases. I've been somewhat guilty of it myself but I don't get _everything_.

There are so many good cubes out there I don't know how any of these companies stay in business or even keep releasing "new" products. It's really starting to be the same thing over and over.

I will say the Moyu V9 UV coated ballcore maglev blah blah blah surprised me. It is much better than I was expecting. And the way it auto completes a turn when it hit's the halfway mark is just weird feeling.
