Oh my gosh I didn't expect to be so correct! So god's number is actually 8, fantastic!
As for average optimal length, it must be 6.1 moves.
I used the data from that table and did this: ((0*1)+(1*12)+(2*96)+(3*736)+(4*5208)+(5*28674)+(6*89497)+(7*54741)+(8*2475))/181440
So, this means my 6.9 PB ao12 can easily beaten if one can employ a closer to optimal strategy.
Currently, I do 3x3 loopover using a two-phase approach: 1) solve any 2x2 block 2) finish 2-gen. And with practice, now I am confident I am optimal in each of these substeps pretty much every solve. Thanks xyzzy for bringing this data to light and I will keep on going with loopover :)

When I saw this thread I remembered that I had skipped 9x9 blind. It took about 12 attempts now (surprising, how many different easy ways there are to DNF it), but today I got it - and after these many attempts with quite a good time.
And do not think, that this is the most uninteresting video ever (because when something happens, the pieces are grey), this title still belongs to the 10x10bld-vid, which is even over an hour :D

Never realized you wanted to post the sheet here lol.

Guys... Please post as text not print
If you read the message on the page on the top it says that the "your times were copied to the clipboard"

IMG-20230514-WA0009.jpg

You just have to paste the content here, as you would do normally I'd you have copied a text beforehand. It's just ctrl+v or any method to paste text if you have copied it beforehand

Is you post as image I won't add it to the spreadsheet. I made that app exactly so i wouldn't need to manually write the times from image. With this format i just copy and paste directly into the spreadsheet without needing to format anything

Sorry, I fixed it.

I just beat this with a much more consistent session:

6, 7, 7, 6, 8, 6, 8, 6, 8, 7, 7, 7 = 6.90 Ao12 3x3 FMC Loopover.

I have some feeling God's Number is 8 moves, and I'd guess the average optimal length is probably 6.8 or so. I didn't have any lucky (5 moves or less) solves, so to beat my PB Ao12 you would need to get a couple 5's or 4's and not get above 8. Again, I do linear solutions. Unrelated, but I got a 3 move single as well. Loopover is a pretty fun puzzle! Hopefully someone does an analysis of this. And beats my PB!

Update: New PB. 6.60 Ao12.
7, 8, (5), 6, 7, (11), 5, 7, 7, 7, 5, 7. :)

I tried 2x2 FMC loopover just for the lolz.
I did 50 solves, 2.40 Mo50 (2.41 Ao50).
I got a 1.0 Mo3, 1.33 Ao5, and 1.90 Ao12.
Try to beat my PB Ao12 of 1.9 lmao.
I’m assuming optimal average must be 2.4.
4! = 24 states. Wild guess at the distribution:
(0 depth has 1 state but will never show up)
1 depth 4 states
2 depth 8 states
3 depth 10 states
4 depth 1 state
(this would give 2.348 avg though, if incl 0 then 2.25)
xyzzy please verify this haha
Just fun to mess around with 2x2 loopover, now I’m going to try 4x4 (edit or 5x5)!

Edit:
To reduce spam:

I did 100 speedsolves on 5x5 loopover.
18.884 single
21.944 ao5
23.165 ao12
29.780 ao100
:)

Edit Again: New PB’s
I believe these are all 5x5 UWRs for Loopover. Edit: obviously not uwrs lmao, uwr single is like 5 sec, but it’s the best here at ss rn.
Single- 15.91
Mo3- 18.36
Ao5- 20.19
Ao12- 21.06
Ao50- 23.18
Ao100- 24.48

Edit-- I was trying 4x4 FMC and I got a very crazy single: 17 moves.
This is below god's number and could be optimal, maybe its 1-2 off optimal. Defintely UWR. Absolutely not. 17 moves isn't crazy. The UWR single is 11 moves.
Reminder all my loopover fmc is linear.
(I wish the scramble was saved so I could put it in xyzzy's 4x4 solver to check, btw xyzzy your mediafire download link doesnt work)
(Btw, xyzzy, Filipe's 11 move fmc pb was for 3x3, not 5x5.)
Edit: More Stuff (preventing spam from posting): I did some 4x4 FMC (linear, of course) and here's some stats from 10 solves:
I kinda tried to do two-phase: 1) 3x3 Block took 19.3 moves average, and 2) Finish 2-gen took 15.8 moves average. This makes 35.1 moves combined. My current PB mo3 is 25.67 for 4x4 FMC.

I logged in to my MF account for what feels like the first time in forever and my last upload there was in 2016 (it was a PDF). If you're downloading it from anywhere other than my GitHub repo (loopsolver.jar is the file you need; the rest is just source code), you're probably not getting the right thing.

If you're using loopover.xyz, it saves all results automatically (but for FMC solves, you have to click "DONE" at the end for the result to count).

Also the UWR single is like 11 moves. 17-18 moves optimal is pretty rare; most scrambles can be solved in 15 or less.
Code:
1e6 random positions:
move count stats:
 7: 3
 8: 15
 9: 107
10: 1056
11: 9069
12: 65429
13: 290907
14: 429516
15: 198892
16: 5006
elapsed time: 3931.707533
