Community Feedback: how can the site improve?

If you think about it, though, I wasn't even born in the USA. My WCA profile even says Israel.
Honestly, I think if he replied with a time conversion to EST this whole thing could be put aside.
Here, @Cuber987, 12:00 GMT is 7:00 EST.
anyway, when I click on my profile to check my reaction score and then close it, it takes me to my profile page, which I find annoying. There should be an option to go to your profile page, rather than automatically being brought there. The same thing applies to the alerts button.

I know it is

@pjk Just like we have a link to our WCA Profile can we also have a link to our Speedsolving Competition Profile? I think this would help show what people average better than WCA Profiles because of less nerves and competing more often. Thanks-Milo.
This would also help if people haven't gone to a comp yet to know what they average. And the official times might be outdated because of improvement (for example, I average 16-17 but my official average is 22 because I haven't gone to a comp since December 2022).

I'm also going to mention @Mike Hughey because he is in charge of the weekly competitions.

What view would you want to link to? The current weekly view statistics? For Luke Garrett, for example, his current week profile is here:

Is there another profile view you want to show or is the current week best?

I’m on mobile. From what I’ve seen, Im not able to make a new thread to talk about something. It would be nice if at the bottom of the new threads tab there would be a button at the bottom that says “make new thread” or make it a bit more accessible.

If you click 'Forums' there should be a button that says 'post thread'

I feel that the rules are lacking in terms of explaing more in depth about thread bumps

it talks about bumping your own thread to have attention, but not old threads of others

I found PRETTY ANNOYING that when someone bumps a thread there is always someone posting a joke about how old the bump was, but people don't see that the person may have posted a question or an interesting observation about the topic, according to the rules.

I think it's better to bump a thread than to create a new one about the same subject, which may lead the mods to merge the threads in the end

I stopped counting how many new threads have been created recently about cubing memes or asking "what is your pb? mine is...", or other things that have older threads with lots of discussion about that there already, people could search and post there instead of creating conflicting threads

also, in the bottom section of any thread there is the "similar threads" section, which leads the user to other (mainly old) threads, that may be pretty interesting to read and comment. so is kinda contradictory when you go to that thread that was suggested and feel coerced to not add anything to it

I feel that that the "similar threads" section encourages bumping somehow, and should be mentioned on the rule, together with explicit reasons and examples of cases of what is right and wrong in cases of bump, for users education.

the current rule is kinda vague and i think it doesn't include sufficient cases to elucidate the view of the mods on the subject

I know that thread bumps has been discussed here before but just in terms of displaying a message exposing that the thread is old or suggesting to auto close thread, but I think that going in more details about the mods vision on the rule and even deciding the correct mindset would help A LOT

that is

a lot of words

I agree though. Bumping a thread is fine, it’s when the post adds nothing that it becomes annoying

But at what point do you say that something adds no value. That’s kinda subjective in my opinion. Different people think that certain things add no value. Some people might think this comment adds no value. It’s just drawing a line in the sand and if it changes, it may be ban/suspend a lot of people for asking dumb questions or saying something that seemingly adds no value.

It is a bit subjective. That’s why we define the rules as well as we can and have reliable mods to handle the grey lines

Ok, so this is not really related to the discussion, but more the topic. I think a way the forums could be better is to make more images up loadable to posts. I understand if you can't for technical reasons, but it's always hard to find an image that suits the correct settings to put in posts.

On mobile, you can click the little picture icon and insert a picture from your camera roll. I assume it’s similar on desktop.
