Hong Kong Cube Day 2023

this is going to be my first comp but idk if i should go cuz i’m still sub 45 3x3 ://
Did you manage to register for the comp? I am put into the waiting list 😢

Not sure if I still have chance to compete in the comp and have a WCA ID, and I will have to wait for another 4 years to join the next cube comp in Hong Kong if they don’t let me join 😭

Is it common to have confirmed competitors withdrawing from comp?
In New York Yopen 2022, my friend was like, 6th on the waiting list, but still got in because they had so many people on the waiting list that they just increased the competitor limit.

Good luck though!
Next time I suggest being ready to put your information in, and if wondering what events to do, just select all events with the "all" button, then you can always change it after you pay and are in.

Actually they have already increased the limit from 160 to 190 and they said it is hard for them to further increase the limit

What do you think about singapore championships? They're sooner

Happening tomorrow. I'm the most excited for the 18th and 19th when they will have 3x3 (and Nigel's 2x2).

It happened to me. I was on the waiting list and then I got confirmed. But that competition had 200 people and I was first on the waiting list, so it is not common.
This comp has 190 ppl and I’m first on the waiting list as well
You will most likely be accepted onto the competitor list

Hopefully someone cancels then.
Also there is only 1 person withdrawing from the comp so far, and if there is another person quitting the comp, I will be able to join the comp.
Still no updates. Do I have no chance? I think the case in US and Hong Kong is quite different as US have comps every week but we only have comp once in every 4 years.

Forgot to mention that for 3x3 PLL, I got E, R, V, N & G perms left. Should I learn all of them or just R, V & G perms where they have higher probability to appear during solves?
You should learn all of them, 1 look pll is a LOT faster than 2 look
Do you think I can get sub 20 at this comp if I learn full PLL where I average sub-24 now? I found G perms to appear quite a lot and theoretically G perms appear at a chance of 2/9 which is very high. Do you think I should learn G perm first before E, R, V & N perms, or in what order should I learn these remaining PLL algs?
Yes learn g perms first, but you should learn all of them before comp, and yes you can prob get sub-20
Btw I have just learnt the N perms (both Na & Nb), and I only have E, R, V & G perms left. Feels like I should learn all these before learning OH H perm & Z perm and also square-1 parity.
I have just learnt all G perms today, and I only have R perm and V perm left. Still 2 weeks before the comp, so I can probably learn full 1 look PLL before the comp!

I average almost sub-7 with LBL, and here's my tips. I usually solve centers and tips within 2 seconds usually turning the centers and tips on pickup. Try to preserve all the blocks on the color you're solving for first layer. And look ahead to see what case last layer will be. I usually turn the last tip while doing last layer auf, if the tip not on your first layer is twisted. Please let me know if there's anything that didn't make sense or something I can give more tips on
I would like to ask how should I pick up my pyraminx from the table efficiently in comp when start solving? I found this hard to do within a second.

What do you actually mean? do you mean that you can turn the top tip and multiple tips while gripping a pyraminx?
Here's an example

This is how I would first grip if tips were turned like this
