Check this out. I plotted the best average times for the different size cubes on a log-log graph. I think the reason why the 4x4 sticks out a bit is maybe because of parity cases which are long to solve compared to the overall solve time.
A 10x10 would take about 16 minutes if this relationship is observed, and if the cube is sturdy enough.

You should be able to click on the graph to see it larger, no? In which case you should be able to see what possible times could be expected for 8x8 and 9x9
Also, I can't make it go through 0, it's a logarithmic scale, but here's the closest thing. It seems like it takes about 0.15 seconds to solve a 1x1, probably the time needed to pick it up and put it down :)

Jason, maybe if you go to Hi-games.net and check out the times online for speedsolving the 2x2 up to the 11x11, you might be able to get more information and a better graph? I know you want to focus on real cubes, but I think it might be a better one to follow for now, just with the raw amount of information you can get from there.

Just my 2c. Otherwise I agree with AvGalen :)

The thing is that what I've done is completely empirical and trying to extract with precision what will happen with bigger cubes is a bit optimistic. If the 7x7 WR is broken tomorrow by 3 seconds, the projection for a 10x10 estimate is going to change by a whole lot more. This isn't maths, so I don't think you can hope for that much precision. I only graphed this to show that there is an interesting simple relation (and for fun). And by the way the 11x11 is missing only because you want to see it there. the 12x12 is missing as well if you look hard enough! The more you try to extrapolate, the less precision you're going to have.
I'll have a look at the high-games scores this week-end :)
