For 4x4, do you prefer to to attach last cross edge to a bar before finishing centres (yau-le) or dealing with it after centers (redux-le). I’ve been trying yau le as I think it’s more efficient and better for flow but if you disagree vote in the poll

I use Hoya, so this isn't from personal experience, but redux LE seems better for ergonomics and consistency.

If there is an easy cross edge I keep it, if not I do it later.

But with times around 2 minutes I may not be the reference

on 4x4 i use reduction, but after pairing the first 4 edges, i use 3-2-3 method from yau, because it is really fast and saves so much time.
i still cant use full yau to solve 4x4 in under one minute. its hard to find and pair the edge for the cross.

What do you mean by “attaching last cross edge to a bar before finishing centers” ?

So like let’s say you’re doing Yau and you decided to build all four cross pieces. You can’t just put all four into the cross, or otherwise centers will mess up one of the pieces you just made. What you do instead is build one of your centers and put the edge with that center. That way, the cross edge doesn’t get messed up when you solve the centers, and afterwards you can put the cross edge into it’s spot.

Oh okay, thank you. I’ve tried to do that, but most of the time I mess it up and my cross edge gets messed up.

So, I do 3 cross edges and all my centers, and once I finish all of my centers, I’ll pair and insert the last cross edge.

Doing the cross edge before heavily reduces the amount of freedom you have for centers. Also, doing it before does not have any benefits IMO, and if you do redux-le, you can pair the cross edge quite efficiently, so I would say that is better.
