after ruihang's former wr, tymon took dozens of comps with multiple rounds to lower it to a sub 5 ao5 but ruihang pulls up and gets it first try in the first comp he's been to since that of his former wr with only ~1 round (6 solves). insane.

Unofficial results do matter, for many people. I personally more care about the question 'how fast can someone humanly solve the cube?' That question is not answered by any official result, but by unofficial results. The same can be said for any sport. Even if the official long jump record is 8.95m, if you ask the question 'has any human ever jumped over 9 meters?', the answer is yes.
