One-Answer Lube Thread

Ok, thanks. Back to sing-handedly keep this thread alive. How do weight 5 and traxxas 50k compare? How different is weight 3

These may be specific questions:
1) I already talked about the black-grey residue inside the center pieces of my rs3m 2020. Cleaning it with some water, I got rid of it but there's some in the little hole where the screw goes, and I can't clean it. If I lube the core with weight 5, will it create some problems? I mean, lube should prevent the residue, but what if I put lube on it (the residue is not that much though)?
2) How does silk mix with lubicle speedy?

The residue is just dust and crud mixed with lube. It shouldn't matter in your core since the screw shouldn't be moving at all. All lubes pretty much mix fine.

My question is: does anyone remember what Cubicle Labs YLM setup is? Either a standard setup with Lubicle speedy, DNM, Traxxas or an Angstrom setup?

weight 5 and traxxas are more or less similar in viscosity, from what i've felt. i use weight 3 as my main lube and tho it's gummy, it's obviously runnier than weight 5 which i prefer more. just a trade off between how much you want to change the speed of your cube and how much gumminess you can tolerate in it. wont recommend putting in too much of either if you dont want your cube to be too slow

i can only answer the first question, lube wont get rid of the black grey residue, it'll just mix with the lube. it's normal, just clean it out periodically if you dont like it. dont overlube the core ever, in my experience it kinda ruined my aolong v2 a few years ago. the core always used to be filled with this grimy black grey residue. whether it was a plastic problem or a lube problem, i have no idea, but i generally wouldnt recommend it.

I know someone's already asked this, but I can't find that post: are there differences between SCS weight 5 and TC weight 5?
I really can't find that post 😅.
I don't really need that information, in fact I have both, but I was curious.

I think they use the same things. I only have TC weight 5, but I could be wrong about them using the same stuff to make the product.
Or they get the lubes from China. All cubes basically come from china, so why not the weight lubes materials, too?
I know that TC and SCS make their own lab/premium lubes, though.
