With quarantine, the recent boom in FTO popularity, and the addition of FTO to the weekly comp, now seems a better time than ever to become nice at FTO. FTO seems like a really unique event that is a weird mix of Square-1 ( being that there is no edge orientation ) and 4x4 ( being there is center building ). I have high hopes for this event being added to the WCA.

Will generally be updating when I make progress, may not be every week but I'll try to keep up as often as possible. Right now world class seems to be 20-30 seconds so I guess that's my goal for now.

So far I've ordered a LanLan and have been watching a bit of the basics of Benisco Method. Feel free to join me on this quest.

You should mod the FTO if you ever hope to turn quickly
Ofc. Right now FTO hardware is reminiscent of pre-F-II/A-V era. Low key excited for modding, brings back memories.. I'm not too worried about TPS since you can get sub-30 with only 2-3 TPS ( based on movecount estimates from Ben's document ). Hopefully we'll get something more decent from QIyi that doesn't require modding.. If ya'll can go tweet at Qiyi !

Well modding for me is not only about speed but for the fun of the process and having a less frustrating solving experience overall.

Random update. FTO comes in tomorrow ! Haven't been this excited since I got my first Meffert's Megaminx back in the late 2000's. Luckily, now-a-days, I don't have to worry about 3 week international shipping.. how times have changed.

Now for some unwarranted speculation.. I've been thinking about how fast FTO could be pushed in the future given the correct circumstances. Based on the fact that max TPS is in the mid-3s atm I'll go out on a limb and say that with proper hardware TPS should be able to be doubled. This would mean that this event could be pushed to low teens, maybe even sub ten ! It's looking like FTO will follow a similar progression arch to that of OH times.. who knows though ?

For sure 3 TPS is not the limit. I've avoided looking at solution methods because I want to attempt developing my own.

Yeah everything seems to be arriving very late because of all the packages people are ordering.
Phil said on TheCubicle's stream that USPS was having some sort of delay, which is making packages take longer.

Here’s a direct copy-paste from TheCubicle’s website, in case you’re interested.

Shipments sent via the United States Postal Service have been experiencing ongoing delays due to the influx of online holiday shopping as well as logistical complications introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a grim reality we cannot control or pretend to overlook. This year has been extremely tough for everybody, with the holidays presenting additional challenges.
