Chris Choi's FTO Progression Thread | Quest to be WB1 in FTO

I have been grinding FTO for the past couple of months now, at first due to the announcement of the diansheng back in March, and now for my own personal ambitions. I have recently obtained the silver tier status, only second to do so in years (after Nathan Sachleben got it like 2 weeks before I did). I now have set my goals very loftily, to become the next Gold solver (which means to have the WB in single, ao5, ao12, ao100 but not necessarily all at the same time), but I have reason to believe I may have what it takes. I am prepared to be let down of course, as Aedan and Dan and Tyler rise to heights we have never seen before, but nonetheless I am motivated. I will be updating my progress as I go. Let's see how fast I get!

I currently use Bencisco, know full TCP, know about 6 LBT algs, and am learning new 1LL3T algs every day. I use a Diansheng FTO, and am waiting for Dayan to come out with theirs soon hopefully. I currently average around 22-23, and my current PBs are 14.49/17.96/19.87/22.44 in single/ao5/ao12/ao100 respectively. I am fairly confident you will surpass me before too long. My improvement has slowed down significantly and I am definitely lagging behind Dan and Aedan.

Thanks Tyler, I appreciate your motivating words. You yourself are a pretty long ways off, I cant imagine averaging anywhere near sub 19 at the moment. Would be nice to see you get some of those WBs back

I sat down and did roughly 100 solves, and I got some nice pbs! Brought my ao100 down to 20.96 and got a 17.77 ao5. I also got a couple 15s and 16s, and had 2 seperate instances of counting 16s that I couldn't roll. Hopefully sub 20 global will be soon. Here are my stats now

Some new pbs!

I broke my single pb twice in one day, first with a 14.20 (which i did reconstruct) and then about 70 solves later with a 13.86 (which I sadly couldnt reconstruct). This brings me from 9th in the world to 8th in the world (sorry Edd for kicking you out). I also broke my ao12 pb with a 19.43, and ao100 pb with a 20.94.

I don't exactly know how I built my first center, so it makes it difficult to recon, but i do know LBT was just U and then insert, and last 3 triples was like 2 sledges/hedges into a sledge/hedge skip TCP.

From now on, I'll be saying how many solves I have in my cstimer session, just to keep track. Right when I got these pbs, I had 6101 solves

Lol same way I feel about the goats who average sub 19/18 and they have like 15-20 thousand solves in their sessions

Thank you so much for the tutorial video, it really helped me learn! My PB as of right now (I got the Diansheng and watched the video yesterday) is 1:49, but some people, including you, having sub-15s is insane. Good luck on your WB quest!

Crushed my pbs even more now. I got a 17.48 ao5, 18.45 ao12 (which is now 4th in the world!), and 19.92 ao100 (also 4th in the world). I think I can actually call myself sub 20 now, which is crazy to me. Only 3 other people have sub 20 ao100s, and thats the 3 goats Aedan, Dan, and Tyler. I can't believe im getting so close to them now

sweeped my PBs, 2 days in a row! Yesterday, I got a 17.42 ao5, 18.26 ao12, and 19.61 ao100, and then today I did more solves and got a 16.86 ao5, 18.01 ao12, and 19.48 ao100. still no single yet though. But Ty Baird also popped off today, getting a 13.37 single and a 15.62 ao5, absolutely insane, and even beats Tyler's 15.88 ao5 he got earlier this week. And Nathan Sachleben also tied my pb avg, also gettin a 16.86. and then no less than like an hour later, Aedan gets a pb ao5 with a 14.89. Today seems like the day for getting a pb ao5 lmao.

Got new hardware (the LBL designs FTO from thecubicle) and was motivated to do a bunch of solves. So far i broke my pb ao100 with 19.21, got a pb single of 13.36 (recon is here), as well as a 13.86 single, a 13.91 single, a 17.40 avg on cam (here is footage). their kit is now out (although it is back ordered) so you can pick it up and prevent explosions
