My Cubing Journey

I mean typically each alg is going to be another look. If you're solving CP using that method, it's an extra look per U' R' U making that like an 8-look LL. "Look" meaning literally, I can close my eyes and do some moves and the next time I need to open my eyes to continue solving, it's another look.
@Mody was asking how to learn 4lll on megaminx without 40 algs. There is no way to do that, but I was trying to give a substitute that was almost as good while only having to learn a fraction of the algs.

I haven't been cubing at all recently. I'm still always playing with a puzzle, but I haven't done a timed solve in close to a week. That means I haven't gotten around to finishing PLL or starting mega 4lll. I suppose I'll go learn the V-Perm
I lost my main so I really can't cube my backup is some terribly lubed SpeedRipper cube that I just realized I lost today while writing this.

Did it rip your times in half?

@ProStar could would you like to post some solves to be critiqued?

Sure, here we go:

/* Scramble */

The only thing ripped in half was my heart when I realized how bad it was.

I thought you used CLL + ELL.

/* Scramble */
L F' U' F U R' F' B2 L2 U' B2 U' D' B2 L2 D2 F2 R2 B' U

/* Solve */
R' D F D F2 // Cross - good cross solution, what I would have done as well.

U2 L' U2 L U F' U' F // 1st Pair - not bad, I would have done it a different way but I don't think your solution is bad.

L U' L' U2 R' U' R // 2nd Pair - good solution

U2 L' U L // 3rd Pair - good solution

U L U2 L' U' L U L' // 4th Pair - good solution

F R U R' U' F' f R U R' U' f' // EO - I think you should start learning full OLL soon, but a good solution if you don't know it.

U2 R U R' U R U L' U R' U' L // COLL - good

U2 M2 U' M U2 M' U' M2 U' // EPLL - good

from this solve it seems like all of your solutions are efficient, which means that your lookahead is what probably needs some work.

Do 25-50 slow untimed solves making sure you have absolutely no pauses the entire solve, after that I would recommend doing timed solves but still turing so slowly that you have no pauses. You should find that as your lookahead is improving you are able to turn faster and faster without any pauses.

Also you should start (if you haven't already) chipping away at full OLL.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm trying to work on lookahead a bunch. Also I've been lazy and am still missing a couple PLLs, I'm going to learn those then dive straight into OLL

I'm the most indecisive person ever. I think. Well, actually...

So here's the thing: ZZ. I've known how to solve it for a few months, but I started playing with it recently, and I really like it. I love the concept of EO, and I think it's useful to be proficient at. So I'm gonna pull an @Owen Morrison and use it temporarily. I'm by no means going to switch to it permanently, but it's fun and I want to give it a shot.

I currently suck at EO, so I'm going to just be ignoring inspection time for now and make sure I plan EO in inspection each solve. It takes some time, but I'm definitely getting better. I did an Ao12, here are the results:

12. 19.13 U' D2 L2 B2 R2 B' U2 B' D2 L2 D2 F2 D' L' D F D2 B2 F R'

A few sub-20s, and also 3 OLL SKIPS. It's insane how easy of LLs I'll get sometimes. The 29.99 was disappointing, but everything else was sub-26, and I'd say I'm averaging around 23.

I'm still planning on learning PLL, but I'm still lacking motivation :P

My story with methods:

Started with Rubik's Beginners that required like 8 algs
Switched to CFOP
Switched to CFCE
Switched to CFOP
Testing ZZ
Still using CFOP
My story with methods:

Beginners
Beginners with F2L
Partially learned 4LLL
Switch to Petrus because F2L is boring
4LLL

So yeah, I think you're the most indecisive person ever.

My story with methods is :

Beginners variant (I don't use the regular LBL, my last layer is a bit different)
Switched to CFOP (4LLL) around 1 minute
Switched to Roux (for a bit, 2 look CMLL.) 2 minutes
Switched to CFOP (3LLL) (Full OLL and 2 look PLL) 30-40 seconds
I learned full OLL first just because I saw the PLL algs are longer in length lol
Now I use 2LLL for CFOP sub 20 with a few sub 10 solves.

My Story with Methods:
  1. Some weird beginners method from youcandothecube.com for 4 years
  2. BEGINNERS with 4lll
  3. CFOP 4lll
  4. Roux 2 look CMLL
  5. Roux 1.5 look CMLL
  6. CFOP 3LLL
  7. ZZ 2LLL
  8. CFOP 2LLL
Now I use CFOP 2LLL, some COLL and few OLLCP and average about 25 seconds
