My Cubing Journey

Why did bro dip

I was walking around the college campus and ended up being late to 2nd round and missing my group; I had already done that once with Squan and Nancy Hartman is way too intimidating for me to go up to her a second time to explain that I wasn’t there when I was supposed to be and needed to move groups

💀

3x3 R1: 13.84, 14.94, 17.69, 16.23+, 15.66

Solve 1 - I AM A GOD AND THE GREATEST CUBER EVER. RUST HAS NO EFFECT ON ME.

Solve 2 - THAT R PERM TOOK WAY TOO LONG. ALSO I AM THE GREATEST CUBER EVER.

Solve 3 - I AM THE WORST CUBER EVER. WHY DID I THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO COME HERE.

Solve 4 - That was a very good solve. Preserved a pair and flowed decently well despite some extremely clumsy fingertricks / handling of the cube. Really really unfortunate that I +2’d it (predicted AUF wrong because I’m washed), it probably ruined my chance at a very good average.

Solve 5 - About what I expected from this entire average. Nothing terrible but just all-around slow and clumsy.

Better than I expected it to go, but also really unfortunate that the +2 probably cost me the sub-15. Definitely did not expect that start.

Side note, my back is really sore and has been the last few days, not sure why. We’re sitting on benches (picnic table style) so there’s no back support which is nice. 4x4 R1 next.

4x4 R1: 1:11, 1:15, 2:02, 1:11, 1:15

Solve 1 - About what I was expecting. Edge pairing was very unlucky, honestly could’ve been quite a bit faster.

Solve 2 - Good edge pairing, bad everything else. Time to put it all together and get a 40

Solve 3 - Did my centers wrong and when I tried to swap them I forgot the alg, so…yeah

Solve 4 - Did PLL parity twice. Triple parity ftw 🔥

Solve 5 - A lot of sloppy mistakes

About what I expected overall, nothing good but still decently carried by muscle memory.

6x6 R1 is next but I’m probably not gonna do that because I just remember how much I hate 6x6

I skipped 6x6.

5x5 R1: 2:39, 3:17, 2:09, 2:30, 2:4x

Solve 1 - Randomly super clean edges. Everything else was slow though.

Solve 2 - Let’s move on shall we?

Solve 3 - I AM THE GREATEST CUBER IN THE WORLD.

Solve 4 - Poor edges counteracted by multiple free edges.

Solve 5 - I am very tired of solving 5x5

I don’t like big cubes and it shows. Previous PR was 2:23 and I got a 2:09 which is pretty cool. 2x2 R1 next.

2x2 R1: 3.13, 6.18+, 4.92, 5.41, 5.01

Solve 1 - WORLD RECO-oh whoops wrong event. Lucky scramble with eh execution.

Solve 2 - Unfortunate, that was a well-executed good solve.

Solve 3 - Slow OLL recognition and slow PBL execution.

Solve 4 - Slow pickup and sluggish recondition. Lockup during PBL.

Solve 5 - Good scramble bad solve.

Disappointing, definitely should’ve been a 4 average. I’m just cursed with +2’s I guess. 3x3 R2 in a bit.

3x3 R2: 20.28, 15.10, 16.13, 13.07, 13.67

Solve 1 - My brain completely blanked for a few seconds. How do you solve a Rubik’s cube again?

Solve 2 - Forced an OLL skip, nice to know I still know a bit of WV. The judge asked if I PR’d (because of how and my previous socks was).

Solve 3 - Bad turning. The judge called my GTS3M a “Tommy Cherry cube” (he’s at the comp) and I’m incredibly disappointed.

Solve 4 - I AM THE GREATEST CUBER EVER.

Solve 5 - WHY CANT I ALWAYS BE THIS GOOD.

Solves 4 and 5 were actually very well executed. Super unfortunate I can never sustain it. I think this is it for me for the comp. Fun time overall!

Edit: Apparently that’s barely a sub-15 average. I am washed-proof.
