somewhere on the complex plane.

Did you do an hour long FMC attempt on that or just wing it? Cause if you spent an hour on an example solve game solve, then wow, but if you did that solve without the hour then more wow.

Next scramble: B L2 F2 L2 R' D2 R F2 D2 B2 R F2 U R F L' D L2 B U

Very quick solution:

B' L' B2 D R' // EO (5/5)
U M2 F D' R2 F' // Domino (6/11)
D' B2 D L2 U R2 U2 R2 // Corners (8/19)
U' F2 L2 U D2 B2 U D' B2 R2 U2 // Finish (11/30)

Edit: Taking a few more minutes will find you a much better finish:
D' L2 B2 U' L2 F2 L2 D2 // Finish (8/27)

To answer your question @Etotheipi , no, I did not find 23 moves in five minutes or something like that, lmao.
Also, for some scrambles on forums I sometimes actually take more than an hour, or it might just be quick like this one.

I tried using a program, and it found this solution:

(z)
R L2 D2 r' F' M' B D2 // FB (8/8)
M U' R U2 r' U R U' R2 // SB+CMLL (9/17)
U M U2 M' U' M2 U2 // LSE (7/24)

Wow. Computers are OP.

-----

EDIT: Since @Pyjam seems disappointed with my experimental playing with computer generated solutions, here is a real solve:

E B2 R2 F // EO (4/4)
M F L2 F B U2 F R // Domino (8/12)
E2 L2 B' R2 F L2 // lmao wut AB3C (6/18)
L2 F R2 F' L2 F R2 F' // Done k (8-3=5/23)

wtf was that domino phase i did 6 moves to 3c lol
(and then right at the end of was optimal 3c spot, 8-3)

I like how my human solution was literally better than the computer generated one XD
23 vs. 24, or, in the superior metric, HTM, 26 vs. 29 ;)

The best Z-Perm for FMC is no Z-Perm at all.

Z-Perms and H-Perms are both double swaps of edges, also known as 2e2e.
And 2e2e can be solved simply with R2 U2 R2 U2 R2 U2, and its many variants. Only 6 HTM instead of 15 HTM.

Watch a short video on insertions, and your FMC global average could drop over 5 moves instantly.

Also, next scramble is still:
B L2 U2 F2 D L2 U2 F2 R2 U L2 U' F2 R' U B R' B' R2 F' U'
