Long story short, I cannot turn a cube well. Period.

I have been cubing for about 3 years now. I have only gotten really into it this year. I average just around 20 to sub-20 on 3x3.

Almost every PLL I do in a solve will lock up horribly, or the execution will be about 3-4 seconds long at best. I often find the cube slipping out of my hand as well. My turning feels impeded by something. I am trying my absolute hardest to turn as accurately as I can, yet I find myself constantly overshooting or barely making the turn at all.

I know that it is (probably) not the cube.
I use a GTS3M that many people have said feels amazing. It couldn't be the cube.

I know that it is not my lookahead.
I have no trouble with that, and I imagine that that will just get better normally, with practice. And it has, predictably.

I know that it is (probably) not my fingertricks.
I have watched countless videos on fingertricks, and I can tell you right now that for most of the algs, I am using the best fingertricks. The problem is that I cannot do many of them for whatever reason. Like my hands just wont let me. I cannot do a right-handed U2 flick without the cube slipping from my hands. I cannot do a flicked F2 with the right hand either.

I do try to turn slower that I normally can, to aid lookahead and make it easier on my hands.
Yet the problem persists.

COULD THIS JUST BE DUE TO MY HANDS? IS THIS JUST HOW IT WILL BE FOR ME? ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

It might be the cube. The GTS3 is a very fast cube. If you want a more controllable cube maybe consider a magnetic Valk.

I have pumped this cube full of Weight 5 and Compound X to fix this problem. The speed is comparable to that of a Valk.
I am unsure if it is that, but I have considered getting a different cube. So maybe at my next comp I will pick up a different cube and see if it makes a difference.

Sorry, I have no idea how to help. But try gripping your cube more tightly-for example, while doing U2, make sure your left and right hands are firmly around your 3x2x1 blocks. Or maybe your cube is just slippery. If u have any other cubes, try them.

try just practicing those fingertricks that are hard for you, like just do R U2 R' R U2 R' over and over again, this is what i did to get better at lefty U2's

I have been grinding fingertricks, but do you think I might have to do it more? I will but like idk... maybe this is just due to me not having enough practice. Ten thousand hours, as they say.

Could you post a video? It'd probably be more useful to see what you're doing rather than just having you describe it.
i agree, try taking a video over your shoulder and time all your plls, and the fingertricks you have problems with. maybe include 1 or 2 solves to show your turning for the rest of your solves

also, what spring compression setting is your cube on?

maybe you are gripping the cube too tightly, if you keep a looser grip on the cube, then it can be easier to turn. (at least for me)

I am having trouble uploading a video for whatever reason. I'll try again in a bit.

My spring setting is on the 6th click.

If I dont hold the cube tightly enough then it will simply slip from my hands most of the time. But are you saying that maybe if I turned with a lighter touch than it might not slip after a while?

It might just be a common thing don't worry, try to relax, put your hands under some water and just breath when it gets too much out of control.
You are just too tense, and this is a problem when you learn instruments, with some sports and on cubing too.
Try to relaxe a bit your hand and it will eventually get better with time.

Maybe this is not that and I'm wrong and this is your cube or your fingertricks but that's a problem I have when I will pb my ao.

I seem to have similar issues. I’m averaging 35.67 currently.

I’m right handed, but find it way easier to do U2 flicks with my left hand (seeing as a U2 is the same either way, it doesn’t matter). Unless I’m coming off of a L or L’.
When I do U2 flicks with my right, the cube wants to misalign.

Also currently trying to break the habit of inserting pairs with RUR’U’ in the front right slot.
And keeping my thumb on the front of the cube, rather than a regrip to the bottom, when inserting pair.

Ps: had the cube fly out of my hand plenty of times lol!

Maybe try doing untimed full solves? Without the pressure of the timing device you may be able to solve more fluidly.
