I have one cube, 3 by 3, QiYi Thunderclap. It's used, very used. I'm still deciding if I should buy a new cube or not, thinking the Gans 356x. Any wisdom would be much appreciated ...

My PB single solve in 22.95, but I got very lucky with my cross basically already solved and skipping the last three steps with some sort of beginner method that's name I can't remember.

My PB 5 solve average is 29.83. I did this last night...

Cubing is not my mane sport, in fact I don't do it as a sport at all. It's just a hobby. My mom bought me a rip off Rubiks branded cube in 2013 as a b-day present. I was 11 years old at the time. I learned to solve it 3 hours later and was bit by the bug instantaneously. I lubed the cube with petroleum jelly and played with this hunk of crap up until 2017, but I was happy. It was at this stage that one of my students (I've taught a couple of dozen people to solve the cube by then) bought some sort of speed cube and I was jelly. To combat this I bought the Thunderclap that I have today. A year back I got bored with my 50+ sec solves and decided to learn CFOP as that seems to be the universal method. It took me a while to get F2L and I still struggle to see them fast enough. Still learning Oll and PLL.

Me other than Cubing:
-I was born in '02
-I live near Johannesburg in South Africa
-I like the outdoors and do many outdoor sports
-I used to swim
-I love classic cars
-The only video game I like is Minecraft
-I've got national colors for Orienteering

Cubing isn't very big in South Africa and it can sometimes be lonely and boring because of this. I'm am excited to be a part of this community.

Welcome to the forum! Nice intro. What outdoor sports do you enjoy? Fishing?
Thanks...I tried

Well Orienteering as I mentioned is my mane and biggest sport, I like how you have to run straight lines through terrain that regular people wouldn't even consider going through. Other than that a sport called Adventure Racing and this is made even better by my legends of teammates. Then also the usual mountain biking, kayaking, trail running, hiking, basically anything where I'm not sitting still and I'm outside. Not fishing, no. I've never been fishing in my life, sadly.

I love active outdoor sports as well! Mountain biking is awesome.

But I LOVE fishing too. I even have a podcast about fishing.

Welcome

Lolwut
He mentioned he liked the outdoors. I know it's kind of off-topic, but please explain your remark?

Cool...funny to find people talking about these stuff on a cubing forum. I don't mind at all though I think it's absolutely wonderful!!!
Are you on the discord group???

Ayyy! A fellow Suid Afrikaner!

The cubing community in SA may not be the biggest, but it definitely is growing.

Woaj what's this sudden thing of 2 saffers joining the SS forum. That's pretty cool! Welcome Smiley Rhino! Have you been to any competitions yet? And IMO the GAN X is not worth its price. I would recommend the GAN 354 if you wouldn't mind the 2mm difference in size. Or really like a Valk 3 Power M or a MoYu Weilong GTS2m/3m. Go ahead if you want the GAN X but I have one and I really wish I didn't spend so much money for it.

Also keep and eye out on youtube for a new channel being created by some of South Africa's best cubers, showing off some really cool solves and official competition stuff (in the occasion that there are comps) and maybe some other stuff aswell. Happy cubing!!

Saffers, hahaha, haven't heard that in ages. Gosh I'm so happy you guys found me.

I haven't been to any comps yet no, can't really find much online, as I said it's a bit small in SA. I would really love to though if I can find any in Jozie.

Well I've got pretty big hands and the 2mm will without a doubt be a problem. I looked for a GTS3M in SA but I can't find it, where can I get one? The valk according to just about every youtuber is a let down. So the Gans just seems like a good option all things considered. It's only issue appears to be the price, but that doesn't bother me too much.

Can I please get your discord tag? If you have one?
