Is 119 Algs for CFOP enough for sub 15 ?

I was wondering if the 119 algorithms were enough for a sub 15 average or are other tricks needed(e.g. empty slots, COLL, ZB, etc.)

And also what do you think is a possible fastest average with those 119 algs ?

thanks

What's all this stuff about intuitive F2L vs. algs about?

I learned algs, but the most important thing is that you get the hang of how they work, and that you can figure out your own algs, and shortcuts.

Pure cfop is enough for sub15... It's even good enough for sub13. I got some sub13 averages, and don't use any of that ZB or COLL bs..

I watched your video-clip for sub-14s, very nice finger trick,

but i noticed that you didn't rotation the cube during the F2L.

I wonder if you can do F2L from different slot? or you just do the f2l from FR slot?

Yes, it's possible to do F2L from different slot, so that you can minimize (but not eliminate) rotations during F2L. I do find that it is helpful to rotate once or twice while solving F2L (unless there really isn't a need to) so that it's easier to get a look at other pairs/slots.

Check www.speedcubing.com/peter/AllesFastTwoLayer for some slots from a different angle. It should be pretty intuitive, it's just performing the algo from another angle (though not for all the case).

Usually I don't do BL slot (I suck at too many L moves -.-"), but FR BR and FL is common.

P.S. I just realized that Joel should be the one you want the answer from, but what the heck :P

Thank you for your reply, Chan

I can not do f2l from any slot intuitively.
I can not create the f2l algo. by myself. But i can do some mirror algo by myself.

I have learned do the f2l from FR and BR. and a few FL and BL.
It's not fluent and smooth. I understood i need work hard.

The 78 Last layer algs are enough, stop LEARNING F2L algs!!! (how many times did I say this already on this forum? ;) ) Just do it intuitive.
Oh and even less algs suffice too I was sub-15 when I only knew about 35/40 OLL's ;)

why should we stop learning F2L shortcuts? I BET it wont hurt you in ANY way! BUT,
by learning more algs you shouldn't expect your times to drop automatically.

hey guys, i started going slow for F2L and made sure i did the cube in one motion, and my average went down about 2-3 seconds so now i'm around 22-23, and i got a couple sub 20 solves yesterday, but i was wondering if it takes awhile to get pass that barrier because one of the 2 sub 20 solves i got was a PLL skip. And i found out that by standing I'm able to concentrate more, haha. I rarely get sub 20 times but i often get 20/21, haha. any answers ?

i use intuitive F2L with a couple of algorithms, i know 25/57 OLL, and 21/21 PLL.

thanks

It really depends, at one point I thought I was stuck but I kept on practicing, and I'm getting closer to a sub20 avg. I still have bad solves (23+), which often ruins a good avg.

alright, ill give it a few good month or so, and i'll learn all the OLLs i doubt 20 can block me from keep on going, haha. as long as i get it before Caltech Fall then i'm happy.
