So this is a thread for learning COLL, you should have already learned OLL and PLL before you learn this, so if you do not already know COLL is a subset used for 2 Look OLL cases to get a U, Z, or H Perm. There are not many cases so we will just be learning 1 a day so you can get used to CP recognition. This should take you around a month to learn and will decrease your times by around 1-2 seconds. Here is the first case for the first day! :D
Alg 1: R U2' R' U' R U' R2 U2' R U R' U R
v

So the way you would recognize this case is you would see that two blue corners match in the back
and opposite headlights in the front, and the same two opposite colors facing horizontal from each other, you really have to practice recognition on these cases!

Thank you for viewing this thread! And as always don't forget to follow me so you will be notified when I post on this thread again! Also don't forget to leave more subsets that you want to see me post about and that you want to learn! :D

Not even close, considering it comes up around once in an average of 5 (ballpark figure). 0.5-1s on each solve used is a better figure.
Learning COLL dopped my global average from around 35 seconds down to 28 seconds. To be fair though, at that speed improvement is so easy that a lot of that was probably as a result of just doing the solves while learning COLL rather than a result of actually learning COLL.

I think the improvement that learning COLL gives will be different for everyone, depending not on the total solve time, but on a combination of a lot of factors, such as the person's typical last layer solve time, recognition speed, how much stronger the EPLLs are compared to other PLLs, and of course how often they force EO before reaching the last layer, etc. There's no way to put a single number to it.

No, of course not. My point may not have been clear, I was only trying to state that COLL "will decrease your times by 2-3 seconds" is ridiculous, considering that most people learning will be sub 15 or faster.

You say learning Coll will reduce your times by 2-3 seconds, are you sure, what does that assume people average, if that's true then getting to sub-12 will be very easy
Depends if you get a 2 look case or not, if you get a 2 look case then, it might reduce your time down 1-2 seconds because you get a cp case so that is definently faster then a g perm or some bad pll like that. :D

Your point was clear. I was just pointing out that both you and OP are making assumptions about the types of people who learn COLL which may not be entirely correct.

For a CFOP user, yes, COLL is really a more advanced alg set that you'd learn when you're already quite fast. For someone who uses ZZ or Petrus though, COLL is actually one of the easier intermediate alg sets. They'd likely be learning COLL when they average around 20-25 seconds, possibly without even knowing full PLL first. A person like that has a lot more to gain from learning COLL.

Of course, I completely agree with you for fast CFOP users. If you're sub 10 with full OLL and PLL, learning COLL will only save you a couple moves once every 8 solves. I'd be surprised if your average dropped more than 0.2 seconds.

Since you already know the drill, lets just get into the second day COLL algorithm: :D
Alg 1: R' U2 R U R2' F R U R U' R' F' R or R' U R U2' R' L' U R U' L
v

This case is cool because if you do the alg, you'll see a big solved block at the back. Basically, the case is a J perm with two twisted corners. If you recognise the J block with the tail on the right during a solve, you can predict an EPLL skip in advance. To take it one step further, if the tail is on the left, then just do a U2 and mirror the alg to the front to force a skip.

An alternative alg for that case that's good for 2 hands, but not as good for OH is
r U' r U2 R' F R U2 r2 F

Cool! Is it all right if I edit this alg into this thread? :)

I do think that'll drop your times if you in the 17-35 Second Range but anything below that you shouldn't use COLL and learn Some OLLCP, VLS, BLE, etc

ZZ And COLL is good

It's not like you can copyright literally the only fingertrick-friendly execution of the FTM-optimal alg… (With lefty double flicks for the U2s, of course.)

I'm personally not a fan of the antislice moves in the LUR algs, but I'll use them to avoid a Z perm if this "twisted T perm" alg would end in that.

Yeah I know, but I did something like that once and the person flipped out and claimed that they were reporting me! O.O

SO! Since we have been doing this for 2 days, let's get into the third day algorithm:
Alg 1: y' F R F' r U R' U' r'
v

So all of the algorithms I could find had rotations, and most of them were kinda difficult to fingertrick, but out of them this was my favorite. The recognition is pretty simple so I won't explain. Thank you guys for viewing this thread! I hope you enjoyed. :)
