An idea for a new Forum Competition

Preferably in one shot, but if you can't find the time to do 24 solves in one go, it's fine to do them over the month - as long as you calculate the average (22 out of 24) and send that to me. So yeah, just send me one PM including average, best time and worst time. I don't need to know each individual time!

Edit: Cookingfat: This is completely seperate from the weekly competition and AVG is continuing that, independantly to anything I do with this competition.

Jude:
There is a problem.
If you make it monthly, perhaps over 50 people will PM you.
Perhaps you need to get a premium membership?

Or all of us could e-mail it to him... I think that's a MUCH better idea and you won't even have to get a premium membership!!

It's fine, I don't think 50 PMs are a worry at the moment, I can just save them to my computer and delete the PMs. I probably check this forum every day and 50 people won't submit in one day.

Also, just to remind you guys who thought it was a good idea, the competition has been started and you can find the scrambles and results for January so far here.

Happy cubing!

Hehe, I'm editing yours in now Cookingfat. Also everyone, the scrambles for February are out!

Also, Ellis said

"I've been thinking about how you can increase participation in the next monthly competition, if you're planning on doing it. I think a big problem was that since there were no replies in the competition thread, and it was in the speedcubing section, not a lot of people saw it or they just kinda forgot about it. It would be nice if you were able to put it in forum competitions section. I also thought the PMing times would be good in order to keep it clean, but there's no need to really keep it that clean. As long as you're updating the original post with the times listed in the thread it would be fine. It would keep the thread active and we'd all be certain of who has already competed, whether you've updated the post or not.

It wasn't until today that I even saw you updated the thread with the times a couple of weeks ago, and it was only because someone else was looking for the same thing. Each monthly thread should be easily accessible with the main post having scrambles and updated with times, whether they are PM'd or posted."

And I guess I agree. Failling being able to have it in the forum competitions thread, I think it should be fine for people to just post their replies on the thread itself.

hmm... again I didn't see it!!

You should make a new thread every month "Monthly competition - February". Have the main post in each thread contain the scrambles. People can submit their times in the thread and just update the main post (where the scrambles are) with the times as they come in, just so the results are organized and easily accessible. Having only one monthly forum competition thread with every month's scrambles and everyone's time for each month is just going to get messy.

judes been away for a fortnight - he's coming back at the end of this week, but he'll probably have quite a lot of schoolwork, so you may have to wait a bit longer after that.
and thats quite a nice idea :)

Alright, thanks for the notice.

I put the montly competition into the weekly competition subforum. That doesn't really make sense when you think about it, so I would ask everyone to not think about that

Also, I would think that this changes the whole "send results in PM" statement, but that is up to Jude.

P.S. There was a problem creating the 2009 02 thread. That should be fixed soon
